A question about Draigo's Sword Empty A question about Draigo's Sword

A question about Draigo's Sword 401342_md-BloodlettersBloodthirsterChaosChaosRealmDraigo_zpsec63ea48

I was wondering what the consensus is in regards to Draigo's Titan sword.
There are a variety of explanations and depictions floating around out there in the web, and I never know which one to believe... Here are a few:

- Draigo's sword was broken during the battle in which he was banished and he reforged it with his bare hands and psychic abilities.
- Draigo's sword is broken and lost in the above metioned battle. He kills a Daemon and takes the Daemon blade for his own.
- Draigo's sword is broken and lost in the above metioned battle. He kills a Daemon and forges a new Titan sword from the salvaged weapon.

Are any of these the true story, or is there another that I have missed?
I am asking becuase I am making a Draigo conversion and I want to make a sword that fits with the true fluff of him. How I make the Titan sword will depend on which fluff I choose and/or is true.

Thanks in advance for your input.

According to this wiki, the sword is half original and half greater daemon of Khorne axe:

What do you think about the idea of modeling a Draigo with a Broken sword? I have not seen this done yet, and I think it may be a cool original look.... thoughts?

i don't know ... scratch
It's seems to me that a broken sword couldn't be so powerful... Evil or Very Mad
and btw can't be named a titan sword either... tiny sword would be better ! Razz

Aragorn gets one reforged sword in LotR: TRoK. So I would go with reforging the sword from the broken one.

Thank you for the feedback Brothers. I think I am inclined to agree with you both and will go for a complete blade. I think that I will Paint it to look more battle worn than the others in my force though.

A question about Draigo's Sword Empty Re: A question about Draigo's Sword

Draigo's sword was broken during his final battle with M'Kar when he was banished to the warp and cursed to stay there for 1000 years.

Draigo finally hunted and slew Kar'Voth, one of the greatest of Khorne's Bloodthirsters, atop the Blood Falls. He took the daemon's great axe and purged it of taint, then using its energies reforged his own Nemesis Sword into the Titansword.

One problem with the Titansword is unless you're against a daemon or psyker it's a Str 6 AP3 sword. and against a daemon or psyker it's a Str 10 AP3 sword..

Personally I wish they'd made it that it became AP2 against psykers and daemons.

This is per the 5th Edition Codex btw. entry for Kaldor Draigo. When in doubt go with the Codex.

My opinions re: titan sword - the only thing battle worn should be the daemons' faces that have gotten effed up from the might of the titan sword.

If anything, draigo himself may look a bit haggard, having not brought his razor and sewing kit with him to the warp, but the sword should be a beacon of righteous fury, an unblemished reminder that draigo is a bad mutha *^#% to any daemon who is unfortunate enough to turn down the wrong warp-alley after stumbling out of their favourite warp-pub...

It's hard to say if I see the the Titan sword as being that shinny and perfect. I agree that Draigo is a bad azz dude, but I kinda like the idea of him being pure on the inside and rough as hell on the outside:twisted:

I love that so much of 40K is left up to our interpretations, and that they can be so diverse.

This is true! In general, for me, force and power weapons seem near indestructible, and less inclined to wear and tear than armour... Considering the titans word to be hand crafted as a force against daemons, I picture it as being pure and undamaged, daemons having no power strong enough to damage it or wear it down...

If it didn't take me so bloody long to paint 5 fricken rank-and file GKSS, I would consider adding battle damage to the armour as I think it looks cool... But that is just detail work I cannot afford right now! For a character like draigo, who has had no respite from battle to repair his armour back on Titan, I would likely invest in some heavy battle damage... (Except the sword Laughing )

Hmmmmmmmmmmm............... Perhaps painting the sword in a nice shinny SENMM would provide a pretty cool contrast to the battle damaged model scratch...........

If I spent as much time painting as I did trying to make decisions about painting I'd be on my 2nd army by now... Shocked

A question about Draigo's Sword Empty Re: A question about Draigo's Sword

Post by Rion Fri Nov 08, 2013 10:25 pm

Someone at my local game store pointed this out to another player and I agreed with him. He argued that Space Marines (of any flavor) keep their armor shiny, repaired, and freshly painted in between wars/battle/missions if for no other reason then to appease the machine spirit. So it would make sense for SM models to be painted as if it was just buffed and polished. Case and point Helsreach. Grimaldus went into the Siege with freshly polished shining black armor and when he returned after the battle his armor had once again been repainted and freshly polished.

HOWEVER Draigo's armor probably looks dirty and grimy as hell. After centuries of walking in the Sea of Dreams. So I think the Titansword, what fluff wise is suppose to be one of the greatest swords in the Imperium, is probably as clean and keen as when Draigo reforged it. Codex: Grey Knights supports this.

So I say shiny normal Grey Knights. Dirty Draigo and shiny Titansword.

Personally I think the Titansword needs to be made AP2 in our next update. Draigo's already STR5. STR6 with Hammerhand (if we keep it) so wounding MEQ is not a problem. So they just need to make it AP2 and boom Draigo is once again THE rape train.

I can respect that point of view, but for me I look at my forces as being in the process of fighting, not just arriving. As such, I am choosing to battle damage them all, I may even lavish a little extra damage onto Draigo than the others Twisted Evil I think that I will go with part of your suggestion though… I like the idea of the Titan sword remaining in pristine condition sunny

After 200 years in the warp I don't think there's any way his armour can remain pristine. but yes the Titansword should slough off any taint and remain razor sharp and gleaming
