Pure Terminator 2000

Post by Corennus on Fri Nov 01, 2013 7:28 am

For when you absolutely positively have to field nothing less than 2+ armour save and watch your opponent's face drop as he has to contend with 37 terminators....

HQ

Brother Captain
Psychotroke Grenades
165

Grey Knights Librarian
Nemesis Warding Stave
Teleport Homer
The Shrouding
The Summoning
210

ELITES

Paladin Squad (5 man)
275

TROOPS

Grey Knight Terminator Squad (10 man)
Psycannons x 2
450

Grey Knight Terminator Squad (10 man)
Psycannons x 2
450

Grey Knight Terminator Squad (5 man)
Psycannon
225

Grey Knight Terminator Squad (5 man)
Psycannon
225

2000

Yup that's right

a fluffy list! but you have 6 psycannons, a tonne of storm bolters. god knows how many daemonhammers cause that's player preference.

Paladins protect the Brother Captain and Librarian.

the 2 small terminator squads start on the board in cover and maybe out of LOS. then when the librarian/gm/paladin squad comes down they can be summoned.

I like it!
Any chance of doing a battle rep with this list to see how it holds up on the table?
Draigo may be a nice option here, lower body count with Paladins, but more psycannons and wounds could offset that.

Good man, that's how Grey Knight armies should look.

Why did you break up the third and fourth squads? They can always combat squad anyway and if it's a kill point game you have the joy of your opponent's face when he realises he has to kill ten terminators to get a single kill point. If in combat squads they still count as two units for working out how many units you can keep in reserves according to the faq.

You might want to split the characters up - there're 4 kill points in a small unit. D-Scythes being what they are it might be a good idea to spread out. Do you need the captain on the board to use his psychic power to bring reserves in?

Well this is a theoretical list as at the mo I have a MAX of 20 terminators.

What you could have (I suppose) is 2 librarians. 2 Summonings!

I loved them too. right up to the moment they took on an Ultramarine terminator squad (NOT ASSAULT, just POWERFISTS) and died to a man...without killing a single enemy terminator in return.

I don't think I could get upset with my terminators if i sent them up against powerfists and they died. It would be like calling Superman a whuss because he gets dizzy around kryptonite.

Superman IS a whuss, but not because of kryptonite.

the only consolation was that my second terminator squad managed to wipe out the offending Ultramarines with an Incinerator and a lot of Storm Bolter shots.

Haha...

Terminator 1: "Haha, look at those foolish Grey Knights, thinking they can harm us with their puny incinerator!"

Terminator 2: "Ha! I'd like to see them try! Just to be sure though, Yorrick, when prepping our squad's gear earlier today, did you remember to wash off the EXTREMELY flammable armour polish we use?"

Terminator 1: "Ummmm...."

Terminator 2: "Oh crap..."

I'm gonna run an all-termie 1850 list tomorrow night.

Mordrak and 5 Ghosts
2 squads of 10Termies, Warding Stave for the Justicar, bro banner, psybolt ammo, and the usual
6 paladins with psybolt ammo and the usual

Was going to go with 3 squads terminators but ran out of models and had to go the paladin route. Going up against some Eldar tomorrow, my first game against them since their new codex came out. My plan is to scout (hopefully all three) and then just let the bullets fly. Assault when the opportunity arises. Will let ya'll know how it goes against the filthy Xenos scum.

I have a bit of a confession to make.... I'm a terrible tactician and general. Doesn't make sense to footslog a bunch of terminators against an eldar gunline, but that's what I did. I always have to learn the hard way  Laughing

How long did you last?

And yes, going against eldar now even in terminator armour (it was bad before but now with bladestorm it's murder) is not a good idea.

Deep Strike is your friend against eldar! As is strangely:

Orbital Strike
Pysker Blasts at Str 8 upwards
Mass Psycannons

More CC
MORE CC!

Turn 3. I thought before the game "I should combat squad and deepstrike" then I thought "Nah I'll jsut run and try to get into assault". Was counting on more than a 1 on my Grand Strategy roll too. I'll try the list again sometime against a different army and try to be more tactically sound.
