"There's one! Set for stun!"
The Inquisitorial stormtroopers switched their lasguns for neural disruptors and took aim at the fleeing woman.
She turned back at the soldiers suddenly and loosed off a las shot that burned into one of the trooper's armour. He fell to the starship floor with a sickening thud as his life evaporated.
A blue wave of energy shot from a disruptor and the woman fell to the ground, stunned and unmoving.
"She'll be alright" grunted the second-in-command of the small squad. "Inform Interrogator Vandar we have a prisoner."

Half an hour later the woman, now a prisoner in chains, her dress smeared with dirt and grease from the starship engine floor where she'd fallen, was brought before two imposing figures already interrogating other members of the starship crew.
"Garth Vandar" she proudly started, recognising the taller of the two who was dressed in a dark military coat which stretched up around his head to connect to his cybernetic enhancements around his skull, "only you could be so bold. The High Lords will not stand for this! When they discover you've fired upon a member of the Imperial..."
"Don't act so surprised your Emissary, you weren't on any 'mercy mission' this time" Vandar interjected, his cybernetic vocal chords giving his voice a harsh deep timbre, "Several transmissions were beamed to this ship by renegade spies. I want to know what happened to the plans they sent you."
"I don't know what you're talking about" Emissary Liara stated, her expression scathing, "I'm a member of an Imperial House on a diplomatic mission to Segmentum Obscurus."
"You are part of the Crimson Path and a traitor!" Vandar roared "Take her away!"

Vandar and his adjunct stalked away. Finally the smaller man felt he had to speak.
"Holding her is dangerous......if word of this gets out it could generate sympathy for her House back on Terra."
"I have traced the renegade spies to her " Vandar replied, "Now she is my only link to finding the Cultist base."
"She'll die before she'll tell you anything!" Brex stated harshly. He'd seen fanatics like the Emissary a hundred times before.
"Leave that to me" Vandar replied, even more coldly "Send a distress signal, and then inform House Organia that all aboard were killed."
An inquisitorial stormtrooper ran up and saluted smartly, then started his report.
"The Battlestation plans are not aboard this ship, and no transmissions were made. An escape pod was jetissoned during the fighting, but no lifeforms were aboard."
"She must have hidden the plans in the escape pod" Vandar mused, "Send a detachment to retrieve them. See to it personally Commander, there'll be no-one to stop us this time!"

Two days later, on board the Imperator Class Star Fortress "Emperor's Might"...

"Her resistance to the mind probe is considerable, it will be some time before we can extract any information from her" Vandar fumed.
"Perhaps she would respond to an alternative form of persuasion..." Inquisitor Wilhuf mused as he stared out the viewport into the blackness of space.
"What do you mean?" Vandar rumbled. His skills as a torturer and interrogator were second to none, and he felt slighted his master did not trust his to break the prisoner.
"I think it is time we tested this station's full power" Wilhuf stated, then turned to the helmsman of the mighty fortress, "Set your course for Heldron"

The immense fortress, larger even than a moon and the pride of the Inquisition, tore into the Warp, and was gone.

Four days later, just outside the Heldron system.

"Inqusitor Wilhuf! I should have expected to have found you holding Vandar's leash! I recognised your foul stench when I was brought onboard!"
Emissary Liara's demeanour was defiant, brazen even after the tortures and depravations she'd been put through by Vandar, who held her tight against him to stop her even thinking of escape.
Inquisitor Wilhuf, his skeletal frame masked by a thick military style bodysuit and cowl, approached the young brave woman.
"Charming to the last," he appraised, running a cold thin finger over her cheek like a doting grandfather. Liara tried to flinch from the touch.
"You don't know how hard I found it signing the order to terminate your life..." he continued, his cold eyes boring into hers.
"I'm surprised you had the courage to take the responsibility yourself" Liara spat back, her words seeking to ruffle the wizened Inquisitor.

Wilhuf smiled and then stepped onto the dais of the Fortress bridge.
"Emissary Liara, before your execution I would like you to be my guest at a ceremony that will make this Star Fortress operational. No force will dare oppose the Inquisition now."
Liara pouted, her eyes blazing. "The more you tighten your grip, Inquisitor, the more star systems will slip through your fingers."
"Not after we demonstrate the power of this station!" Wilfhuf gloated. "In a way, you have determined the choice of the system that will be destroyed first. Since you are reluctanct to provide us with the location of the Cultist fortress I have chosen to test this station's destructive power on your home system of Hedron!"
Liara gasped, unbelieving.
"No...No! Hedron is peaceful! We have no weapons! You can't possibly!!!"
Wilhuf rounded on her like a predator with his prey, advancing so close his words were like a physical force assaulting her.
"You would prefer another target, a military target? Then NAME THE SYSTEM! I grow tired of asking this, so it will be the last time. WHERE is the Crimson Path base?"
Liara looked out at the system beyond her, her home and birthplace. Billions of people living on 5 planets. About to be wiped out by the Inquistion if she couldn't think of something.......then an idea placed itself in her head.
"Icarux" she murmered, "They're on Icarux".
She hung her head dejectedly, secretly hoping her answer was enough.
Wilhuf smiled triumphantly.
"There, you see she can be 'reasonable' dear Vandar"
Vandar nodded slowly.
"Continue with the operation" Wilhuf directed the bridge, "You may fire when ready"
"WHAT???" Liara exploded, not believing what she just heard.
"You're far too trusting" Wilhuf admonished, wagging a finger at her as he watched the main display, "Icarux is too remote to make an effective demonstration but don't worry, we will deal with your Cultist friends soon enough."

Liara watched with horror as on the main display the Fortress' main weapon powered up. The immense power surge caused the air itself to buzz with charge. Then a gigantic beam of immeasurable power shot from the centre of the star shaped fortress towards the sun at the centre of the star system. The immense distance between the fortress and the sun was crossed in less than a minute as the arcane psychic beam transversed space beyond the laws of physics. Around the sun a massive tear in reality appeared, and a black hole was ripped into being, quickly growing as it devoured the Hedron sun, and then the planets were pulled in, exploding as the immense gravity well ripped them apart.
The whole destruction of the system took less than five minutes, and as soon as all trace of the system was gone, the Star Fortress powered down.
Inquisitor Wilhuf turned to stare once more out the massive viewports to the side of the main bridge.
"Take the Emissary back to her cell Vandar" he ordered, "She is of no more use to us. She is to be executed by 2200 tomorrow."
