Wanting to Add in some GK to my IG Tourney list

Hey brothers! It has been a while since I have posted on here. I feel that both of my armies are being effected by codex creep. I am not sure what I want to do. I have debated adding in some GK to my tourney list. I was thinking a Dreadknight might help against some of the new walkers. I was also debating an inquisitor as a psyker, and a GKSS. The psyker would give the GKSS prescience. I would also love to add a Vindicare assassin! I love that guy, he is just fun. I have every model but the stormraven. So please let me know what you think. Also if you just have some upgrades to my current list feel free to add.

I should mention that this is a tournament with a grand prize of $250. I would like to be as competitive as possible. The list is 1750 and there will be a lot of terrain... city invasion is the theme of the tournament.

While Grey Knights are still in around the top of the pile they are not on top any more, with Eldar, Tau and Necrons being the top. You will need to look at the first uints for Grey Knights, H.Q. Keep him cheep, Coteaz fits the bill and is a 2nd level psyker, then he need a squad to run with, grey knight strike squads fit nicely and do both the fire support and close combat roll, or if you want to go cheep then an inquisitorial unit can come into play, you want to look at something with a counter assult roll so maybe death cults with crusaders, Coteas can support either a combat or shootie unit with his abilities, 2+ save and hammer. As for dreadkinghts they are now one of the weekest monsters in the game (out of the new codexes we still do all right against deamons and nids but a riptide will shoot you to death and so will the Wriath Knight). I was at a tournament on the weekend and one of my opps had 2, jumped them into me on turn one and I killed them in the next turn. They were unsupported by anything other then themselves, one went down to my srotmraven and the other went down to coteaz in hand to hand (I lost coteaz but at the points I paid for him I was happy with this). Other then this I would say take a Stormraven. It will realy harden your list up. The placings for the tournament were Necrons (Mixed flyer), Deamons ( I hate 2+ rerollable inv saves), Eldar (realy fast with lots of rending shots), Tau (double riptide, shadowsun, missile broardsides), Eldar (4 wave surpents and friends), then me (Coteaz, term inquisitor psy cannon, 2x strike squads, purifier squad, stormraven, rhino, 2 las cannon razors and 2 ac dreads (1 loss 2 wins and 3 draws). It was not a huge tournament but it was a tough one with some rough lists and some players getting blown of the board in 2 turns, not pretty.

with eldar being the new ones to watch out for, and Tau getting really some nasty upgrades Grey Knights (as First Strike says) really need mobility. This means that gunline setups are a risk now because in all likelihood you will be outgunned and outmaneuvered by fast tough vehicles and some pretty heavy duty weaponry.

The only way I can see Gk working is with the aforementioned stormravens, and also if using GK as allies, deep striking terminators / strike squads to tie up opponent positions.

btw you do know that after the tournament your whole IG army is being put to death as a precaution of not spreading knowledge of the GK....LOL

I always make that joke. My favorite thing to say to my opponent... As soon as my GK are done with you they will turn on my IG. haha

What do you guys think about my IG list atm. What would you drop and why in order to add certain units of GKs.

I love coteaz... was leaning towards adding him.

Well guys, I was able to run Coteaz, 10 gkss w/ 2 psycannons, and a psyfleman. My first game, I left the opponent with 3 models left. My second game, the opponent had 4 models left. The final round... tabled the opponent by turn 3.

I got second place overall based on points. This list will stay in a top tier for me until a new IG codex comes out.

Was the tournament unranked, 3 wins like that should have seen you playing the quy who came first?

The tourney was unranked. It was for store credit.

It sounds like the list works well on the tabletop. Too bad fluff wise you would have to mindwipe and/or kill all of the guardsman afterwards
