I have come to the conclusion that without doubt the Brotherhood Champion is both the hardest nut to crack in CC (2+ armour save, 3+ inv save!) but also the most difficult to get into CC with a list that compliments his abilities.

He can't deep strike with a terminator squad, so putting him with purifiers is definately the way to go....but then you have the problem now of how to deliver him to the front.

A land raider or storm raven comes immediately to mind. but that's an expensive way of doing it, especially in games below 2000 points.

In 6th ed you now can't assault out of a rhino so that isn't really an option...

One option might be a librarian with Summoning, but that relies on the librarian surviving, AND the BC surviving once he deep strikes since he can't assault from deep strike....

suggestions?

If my memory serves me correctly then the BC only allows rerolls for a turn in which he assaults, so a smart player will just assault you if you arrive in by deep strike

True, rerolls to hit only when he and his unit assault. But the best part is, you can make your librarian almost invincible in assault, with the BC. Just alwys take Blade Shield as the battle stance, and voila rerollable 2+ or 3++ saves!

I use the champion as the HQ in small games because he's the cheapest for a pure Grey Knight army. If there's heavy terrain he joins a large squad of terminators to buff the unit and eviscerate any characters that threaten them.  As my main unit of line infantry I don't want them being taken out by some tricksy hero/monster.  I'm not particularly concerned with him making it to close combat, he's there for when it happens.  Otherwise he goes in the stormraven with a 5 man terminator squad and goes on the offensive.

In larger games he's the bodyguard of my grandmaster, taking challenges and allowing the master to slaughter the regular folk.

I've only used a BroChamp a few times, and each time he was attacked to a footslogging GKT unit for tanking challenges. Did quite well each time, however, I've moved on from that build and like to keep my GKT "Deep Strike Ready" these days.
