750ptn Tournament

Post by udunsflame on Fri Mar 22, 2013 3:09 am

Hi,

Tomorrow I'm participating in an 750 points fun tournament, and I can't decide which list to use...
There are a lot of limitations:

Armies will consist of 750 points or less, and must be conform to the following Force
Organization restrictions:

• 0-1 HQ
• 1-3 Troops (you MUST bring min. 1 Troop choice)
• 0-1 Elite
• 0-1 Fast Attack
• 0-1 Heavy Support
• 0-1 ‘Swing Slot’ (maybe be used to field one additional Troops OR Fast Attack choice)

Armies must select 1 troop choice, minimum. Armies are not required to take any
other mandatory unit choices. All other unit restrictions (i.e. 0-) apply.

You may spend remaining points on units from anywhere in the Codex as long as you
don’t exceed the limitations mentioned above.

No Special/Unique/Named Characters are allowed in the tournament (e.g.: No Mephiston, Shadowsun, Marneus Calgar and the like).

With the exception of models with the Swarm Universal Special Rule, Troops and HQ,
no model can have more than 2 Wounds.

Psykers may only attempt ONE psychic power (or activate a force weapon) per player
game turn, regardless of codex special rules or mastery level.

Only vehicles with a maximum of 33 in total armor facing may be taken. Vehicle
Squadrons and Artillery that have the unit size of 1-3 will instead just be 1 e.g.: a
landspeeder squadron is 1-3 but you can only take 1. Vehicle upgrades that increase an
armor facing may only raise the armor value to a maximum of 33 all round.

In order to keep the games balanced, flyers may not be taken.

Forge World/Imperial Armor units or codexes are NOT allowed in the Green Crusade tournament, however players may still use their Forge World models to represent a unit from their codex.

As you can only select 1 HQ choice, no allies can be selected.

No fortifications can be taken along with your force.

No model may have a better armor save then 3+

Unit choices that have the opportunity or ability to generate more units somehow, may
not be taken.

List 1:
- Ordo Malleus Inquisitor (Power Armour, Psybolt, Power Weapon) - 48ptn

- GKSS (Nem Daemon Hammer, Psycannon) - 120ptn
- GKSS (Nem Daemon Hammer, Psycannon) - 120ptn
- GKSS (Nem Daemon Hammer, Psycannon) - 120ptn
- GKSS (Nem Daemon Hammer, Psycannon) - 120ptn

- GK Interceptor Squad (6) (Nem Daemon Hammer, Nem Warding Staff, Incinerator, Justicar with Halberd) - 216ptn
= 744ptn

List 2:
- Ordo Xenos Inquisitor (Rad Grenades) - 40ptn

- Purifier Squad (2x Psycannon, Keeper of the Flame with Halberd) - 142 ptn

- GKSS (10) (2x Psycannon, Psybolt, Justicar with Halberd) - 245 ptn

- GK Interceptor Squad (10) (2x Incinerator, Psybolt) - 320 ptn

= 747 ptn

List 3:
- Ordo Xenos Inquisitor (Rad Grenades) - 40 ptn

- GKSS (10) (Daemon Hammer, 2x Psycannon, Justicar with Halberd) - 235 ptn

- GK Interceptor Squad (10) (2x Incinerator, Psybolt, Justicar with Halberd) - 325 ptn

- Callidus Assassin - 145 ptn

List 4:
- Ordo Xenos Inquisitor (Rad grenades, Power Armour, Ulumeathi Plasma Syphon, Combi-Flamer, Scythian Venom Talon) - 83 ptn

- Inquisitorial Henchmen - 202 ptn
- Crusader (2)
- Death Cult Assassin (6)
- Warrior Acolyt (3)
- Inquisitorial Chimera (Autocannon, Hull Heavy Flamer)

- GKSS (10) (2x Nem Daemon Hammer, 2x Psycannon, Psybolt, Justicar with Halberd) - 265 ptn

- Purgation Squad (4x Psycannon) - 180 ptn

Any thoughts?

i'm quite classic in my choices ... I like list 1
But note that you can't use Inquisitors cause they have 3 wounds and that you are limited to 2 wounds for your HQ in this tournament.
so the only HQ you can take is Crowe, because the BroChamp and the Libbie have less than 3 wounds but it will be harsh to discuss about their Psy powers.... a libbie is mini mastery 2 ... but the writings of the tournament rules could allow him ("may attempt 1 psy power.... you can limit yourself even though the libbie could do more).
As for the Champ .... he's One power HQ no pb ... but what about it's special psy power when he dies and had already use 1 psy power or activation ??? you must ask the organizer of the tournament before it, imho.... scratch

Sorry, I can take the inquisitor with 3 wounds...

With the exception of models with the Swarm Universal Special Rule, Troops and HQ,
no model can have more than 2 Wounds.

HQ, Troops and swarms are excluded from this rule... pfew... Wink

Personally i'd go something like this:
Ordo Malleus Inquisitor, psyker upgrade
GKSS (10) psycannonsx2
GKSS(10) psycannonsx2
GKIS(5) incinerator
Henchmen warband plasma cannon servitors x3, stormbolter acolyte x 5
This comes out to 740pts, so you can throw a halberd or two onto justicars if you want. This list gives you 25 stormbolters, 4 psycannons, 3plasma cannons and an incinerator. This list should play very much like an old DH list did: keep backing off while shooting the hell out of everything.

From the way I read it HQs/Swarms/troops are the only ones allowed to have more than 2 wounds, although I'll admit I am very tired and could easily have misunderstood. If you're right and HQs can't have more than 2W it means he couldn't field any HQs at all because of the no 2+ save rule.

I asked the organizers and it is indeed possible to play with an inquisitor.

the only models allowed in the list with more than 2 wounds are HQ, Troops and Swarms.

So it is possible... pfew...

Happy that you can Play a HQ with 3 wounds... In that regard an Inquisitor is a good choice even though i personally love the BroChamp ! Twisted Evil

I woully look at list 1 but would join the 4 strike squads into 2, drop 2 hammers, drop 1 intercepror, add psy bolts to both squads and then with anything spare would go for halbards on the justicars.

I like the look of Bigbri's list the most - it combines all of your lists in the most coherent way.

PA for the Inq would be nice.

Re: 750ptn Tournament

Post by udunsflame on Mon Mar 25, 2013 2:58 am

This was the list I played with:

- Xenos Inq. with Rad Grenades, Ulumeathi Plasma Syphon and Combi-Flamer

- GKSS (10) with 2x Psycannon and Justicar with Halberd
- GKSS (10) with 2x Psycannon

- GKIS (5) with Incinerator

- Henchmen: 3x Servitors with Plasma Cannons and 5x Warrior Acolyte with Storm Bolters.

We had to play 4 battles, 2 losses and 2 wins... So not toooooo bad.
(For my first tournament...)

- Win VS. Tau & Chaos Space Marines
- Loss VS. Space Wolves & Necrons

My thoughts on the list:
My Inquisitor mostly went with the first GKSS.

- Inquisitor:
Not bad for 60ptns
The Rad grenades are awesome...
The Ulumeathi really did save some lives... although 12" is not that far...

- GKSS:
Solid troops, force weapons are good, but 1A is not much... Wink

- GKIS:
The incinerator did a lot of pain after a jump. They were to small in numbers...

- Henchmen:
- Servitors:
BS3 is low...
They really need the inquisitor.
If dices are lucky, I could really do a lot of damage.
- Acolyte:
Much better with Storm Bolters!

Against the Tau:
- Fighting against a lot of fire warriors:
My shooting rounds were very good, killing a lot with the strombolters and psycannons
- Can you Imagine: I almost 'out-fired' the Tau... Laughing

Against the Space Wolves:
- That battle was really lost with the dice...
My opponent was rolling sixes and I was doing the opposite... pale
I even managed it to fail a charge when I only had to roll 3"....
That did turn the battle... (and If you're only playing 750)

Against the Chaos Space Marines:
- He had a lot of cultists who were no match for my firepower...
- in combat my GKSS killed a unit of charging Chaos space marines of Khorne
- Only the Lord was a pain in the ass... Killed my GKIS, 1 GKSS and the Inquisitor.

Against the Necrons:
- The buildings in the scenery made it hard to hit each other...
We were staning at 26"... so VERY little shooting rounds...
- He had a unit with 6 wraiths who almost wiped the entire army...
- He did throw a lot of successes on his 3+ invulnerable saves...

Very usefull write up as well, it's great to see what worked / against who, and what units gave you problems.

Well Aubec, it is definitely worth its points against some 'plasma' armies! Wink
I encountered 3 armies without plasma and then of course ... that's expensive...

As I explained in my report, they work really good, but only from 12" away...
Most plasma weapons shoot at 24"... so that's a pity.

You should give a Ulumeathi to a combat character, because otherwise you'll never get close enough.
Then it really does its work...

I did forget this:

The Ulumeathi count for all models shooting with plasma within 12".
It is not only for models shooting at character/unit with Ulumeathi.

That makes it better. If your Ulumeathi is positioned well, you can stop A LOT of plasmashots! bounce
