Dark Angels Empty Dark Angels

How would you guys go about fighting, and winning against a DA army that's focused around Belial and having him taking termies as troops? The DA army is nearly all infantry, focusing around it's infantry with heavy weapons and deep striking all the terminators. I could provide an exact list if it would help, but I'm more looking for general tactics. There's a few landspeeders in the army as well as two dreadnoughts but no armor otherwise. I might add there's also like.. 2 other HQ's in the army but I can't remember what they are called. One has a little helmet bearer or something.. xD Anyways, thanks in advance for the help!

Really depends on how many points we're talking about. An all termie DA list is quite expensive so I'm assumng 1500+?

Regardless, your best strategy would be to shoot them to death. Mass S5 stormbolters w/ from a lot of bodies would be the way to go.

+1 to Rivan. Lots of shots is the way to go. No terminator will ever survuve to too much shootimg (well no model in the game will ever do that but you get the point).

Depends on what you are running. I personally enjoy killing belial with vindicare shield breaker ammo and then pumping him full of hellfire rounds. Strike squads keep the deathwing assault (especially the precision strike) from getting the obscenely overwhelming turn 2 assault, before you get to whittle down his termies. I was able to use a prescienced lance strike against a fresh deathwing squad, rerolled and hit 7, wounded 5 and he lost 4 before my psycannons and stormbolters took his squad down. The biggest obstacle I have encountered is that they are all fearless troops, so you have to kill them all in a squad and they can charge and tar pit you until they get the enough to overwhelm you. Next thing I think I will try for my all comers list is to spread out my interceptors on the flanks and combat squad my strike squad and pray for turn 1 so I can warp quake to keep the Deathwing at arms length, followed by bounding away to try to get 2 turns of shooting. The other big obstacle is their twin linked shooting, with assault cannons and plasma cannons they can shred my entire army before I can react.

Well, in the eventual battle it will probably be 3500 or 4000 points. But I appreciate the advice! Does anyone ever run more then one Vindicare? Is it possible?

In apoc anything is possible, however I remember hearing of an assassin formation as well. At that point level are you taking on the entire DeathWing? Sounds pretty epic. My friend who plays Deathwing is also working on that, he is about 25 termies shy though.

I am currently still building up my army to that size but the friends DA army is roughly this.
3-5 HQ units
60 Marines
25 Terminators
4 Scouts
6 Attack bikes
4 Speeders
2 Dreads

I think that's it? o.o Or something like that.

I'm with Riven on this, the bane of terminators is on mass firing, a ten man squad of knights vs. 5 terminators will go quite sour for your opponent when he has to roll save after save from 20 str 5 stormbolters. He has to roll a 1 sooner or later in those saving throws, if you keep peppering him with wave after wave of bolter fire they should buckle down quick. The dreadnoughts might be a different concern all together as they can take a hit if they are venerable with extra armor, and if its loaded with long ranged weapons like las-cannons and missile launchers then it will be a significant threat in the game. Especially if he takes two, then he'll try boxing you in a corner.

I'd say use strike squads to disrupt his attempts to deep strike into the field, their psychic powers should keep him within arms reach. If any DO land it will be well past 12 inches away and outside of assault range (which we can't survive from terminators!) Couple that with servo skulls then you can keep him where you want him to land and just gun down what pops up.

either mass fire or cheap inquisitorial henchmen to shove the terminators some plasmaguns into the face... god, dark angels love plasma dont they? so let em have it! Twisted Evil

Do servo skulls prevent deepstrike? I thought they prevented infiltrators and reduced scatter, but not prevent deepstrikes.

You are correct Brother, servo-skulls do not affect DS in any way. If a unit DS within 6" of one, the skull goes away.

Block with cheap vehicles as well. They have a large footprint. Just keep the statistically likely number your shooting squads will kill plus one within LoS so you can still shoot them effectively.

+1 with all these guys volume of fire, or low ap like plasma, lascannon or orbital strike relay. Possibly storm raven with melta and lascannon combo?
