Single Type Henchman Bands? Empty Single Type Henchman Bands?

So, purely as a conversational point; which members of henchmen warbands work particularly well as single type units

For example; I'm thinking of running a unit of 5 Daemonhosts; Daemonic Speed doesn't seem to serve them as fully as possible unless the whole unit has Fleet; people have recommended big units of psykers

Crusaders seem to work better as shields for more vulnerable troops...

Whilst Jokaero seem excellent choices for single type units, you do kind of lose part of their charm if you're taking them beyond their customisation abilities...

Mystics need shielding; there's no real benefit from taking more than one in a unit...

Death cult assassins in an assault vehicle. You can run units of
Crusaders by themselves. I would modify their "power weapons" and model them as
Axes and power mauls. I would throw in a banisher aswell. In any combat unit. Either the DCA's or the crusaders.

Psyker units... Still testing them, I do love the idea though. But we'll see.

I've always had a soft spot for Arco's too. Now that most power weapons are AP3 rather than ignoring saves they might get more attention.

they are awesome. 4 attacks with strength and weaponskill 5 is nice. the feel no pain also got better in most regards

I can see people having a little wobble of concern with 12 arco's hitting the table; if you could factor in an Inquisitor with Divination and that 4+ invul ability...definate squeaky bum time...

*EDIT*: I just checked, Arco's don't have power weapons? They have a single close combat weapon...

Do we have an Assault vehicle re: assassins?

I'm currently running a unit of warrior acolytes with just a Jokaero as an addition, not too sure how well they will handle, but I may find out if I get a game today...

Nope, Daemonhosts don't count as daemons. Only affects stuff listed in the FAQ as daemon.

Ok, once this tournament is out of the way, I'm going to run some tests using single type henchmen bands - purely out of interest and to see how they function at a game level

The first test, primarily because I love them, will be Daemonhosts. With Coteaz, that's one funky 75 point troop choice!

Funny how arcos are now interesting with the nerf of power weapons in the 6th !!

I found that a small unit of six has a good ratio quality/price... For me it work well ( maybe completed with crusaders ... scratch )
I like using 2 Jokaeros when i use them
And i still love the 7 DCA unit with 3 crusaders i think it still work fine... And i bought 14 metal DCA, so i want to use them !! Razz

No, that's the point. Before DCA's were always the king of assaults due to high int and power weapons. But with power swords only being Ap3 and axes being Unweildy it gives arco's a chance. 5 WS5 str5 regular attacks on the charge is pretty nasty, throw an Inq in there with Prescience for even more punch.

That's true. I might start looking at taking DCA's instead of purifiers, and then throw in some more troops choices. DCA's are practically the same when comes to assault. They rape other powered armour MEQ.
