1000 pts Army list.. advices?

I'm new in the warhammer 40k Galaxy, but I couldn't resist to The Call... so I'm beginning to buy my personal GK army I'm writing my project of a 1000 point list, and I would like some advices from someone with more experience...

with the HQ warband firing from behind (all firing from a minimal of 24 to 72) the SS can advance on the Rhino firing with psicannon and assault around 3-4 round of battle with the force swords (VP3), psicannon, thanks to rending, can pierce even a land raider... and conversion beamer is a wonderful weapon...
Opinion?

With this list at the points level (1000) I would drop the conversion inquisitor, Add psy bolts to both strike squads, drop 2nd inq squad, add a chimera to the 1st, add a rifle dread with psy bolts. Drop one rhino and upgrade the other one to a razorback with psy bolts. Add a hammer to each strike squad (not the sarg). Also rember, we are a shooting army not a hand to hand one so do not plan to assult, we can but due to points cost and low attacks we should not be looking for it all the time.

I was thinking about a purgation squad on a razorback instead of the 2nd inq squad... 5 marine with 4 psicannon? or some incinerator? are they worth the points?... I love dreadknight, only I'm scared it's a simple target... thank you very much, Im beginning to ponder your ideas.

Dreadknights are good but at 1000 pts it is hard to spend the points on them. This is why the rifle dread will be a better choice.
Perg squads are nice as well but have the same problem where is becomes to many points in a small game and there are better places to spend the points that will get the job done.

I tought a lot, so i wrote down another list... less bodies, more fire!

assuming 80 points for the razorback (and I'm not spending so much) it's 994 point (got spare points for hammer and a searchlight).... maybe if i can save 30 points i can take a couple of DCA or crusader for my henchman squad...what do you think?

I'll combat squad 1 SS, put it in the razorback with Coteaz, the other SS in the rhino and they go forward, the 5x combat squad and the henchman stay behind maintaining objectives (using warp quake and firing from behind)... and the dreaddy will rifle almost anything from mid-field.

Hidden somewhere on this site is a gem of a 1000pt list that uses 3 Dreadknights and apparently tabled almost everyone in the tournament.

I think it ran something like this:

Inq
10 x Strikes
5 x Strikes
3 x Dreadknights

The Strike squads deepstriked and covered objectives. The real skill in this list is keeping the knights alive though until they can make combat.

The strike squads should still have psy cannons, so if you have the extra points this is where I would be spending them (the ones in the rhino can shoot out with 2 guys). The strike squads lack the punch against armour with out psy cannons. (unless you just forgot to wright it down). If you do not have the psy cannons, Drop the inquisitor and take them, if you do, then leave it in. The only problem I am haveing with this guy is that his job can be done by other things that you have included in the army (and done better then what he does)
Coteaz is a better inquisitor, the 3 plasma cannons and 2 jokaeros are better at killing everything, and they are the only reason he is there. (other then the fact that you love him).
The 3 dreadknight list (at 1000pts) would be mean, but there are lists out there that can wipe it out in 2 to 3 turns, Dark eldar springs to mind.
I would have to say that they could have had jump packs, the rest of the army cost around 350pts and this would leave 650 for the rest so jump pack and incin would be in the budget (they would not be effective without the jump pack and at least one gun). Just watch out for snippers or poision weapons.
With the battle plan for the army, never plan to advance, advancing should be done at the last moment to take objectives, or to get into range.
The thing with 40k or any game is that it can be played 2 ways.
1. I am here to win, I will sick to some basic principles and do just enough to win every time. (you can still have fun with this but your opp will get bored, and after a while, you will to, and start either another game or army (normaly tournament players))
2. I am here to have a good time and do not care if I win or lose as long as lots of things die and there are some realy big explosions along the way. (fun all round. (normaly club players or small group of friends where everybody just brings their coolest mins))
There is nothing wrong with either group and many players will go form one group to the other in their time in gaming (I know I have).

you're right, i forgot to write down the psicannon, they were listed!
I don't like player who play only to win, we're a small group of friends, and I know I'll be ripped by that damned wolves, but i love my paladins!
we got space wolves, dark and blood angel, ultramarine (damned smurfs), chaos (marine and demons) and eldar... now I'm building my grey knights army and i'm gonna rock!!
More, i'm loving that inquisitor with Conversion beamer because I think shooting on the first turn against the enemy HQ with a 72" S10 AP1, blast shot... is priceless! in particular if i can ignore the scatter with the servoskulls... only to make my enemy know I'm here to purge him!
