Grey Knight/Thunder Wolves list! Empty Grey Knight/Thunder Wolves list!

Ok, how cool would it be to field Thunder Wolves with Grey Knights? When I thought of this I got all excited and told my wife, but she didn't seem to have the same enthusiasm as I had for this idea. So I hope some people on this site can share in my glee.
My friends and I play 1.5k games because we have lives. So 1.5k is my point limit, but feel free to post about any limit you use.

First for my GK HQ I always go for either Crowe and a tricked out Ordo M Inquisitor or 2 tricked out Ordo M's. Because TW's cost about the same as palies when pimped out, I am thinking to save my points early and go from there.

HQ: OMI + trimmings and a servo skull X2 - 166pts
Troops: GKPA X10 with psicannons, psibolts, and a Rhino X2 - 360pts
FA: Stormraven with Typhoon Missile Launcher, TL Lascannon, H Bolters, Extra Armor, Psibolts - 295pts

AHQ: Canis Wolfborn with 2 wolves - 205pts
ATroops: Fenrisian Wolfs X15 with Cyberwolf - 128pts
AFA: Thunder Wolves with plasma pistols X5 and one Wolf Claw - 345pts

This should be 1499pts. Gotta have my Raven unless somebody convinces me to not take the only thing in the GK codex that can rock out with some skyfireing Krak Missiles.

Can you explain this? If you want 2 units of 10 guys with a rhino, it would cost much more and you need more troops. If you want a unit of 10 with 2 rhinos, you cant do that. If you want 2 five man units, each with a psycannon, psybolts, and a rhino, that only costs 340 and the psybolts are SUPER inefficient.

Also your list has almost no shooting in it. like at all your anti tank consists of at max 2 psycannons and a SR (and could be less depending on what your troop choice actually means).

I dont like throwing thunderwolves in a GK army, it's not all that exciting. they dont really do much that we can't do already, and your sinking a LOT of points into getting them. If your enemy kills your thunderwolves or ties them up with big stuborn blob squads, they're suddenly facing one shooty vehicle that three glances kills it and some not so tough troops.

I think the list has too much invested in big shiny point sinks, and not enough in the basic workhorses that make a list work, like a firebase and enough troops and a backup assault squad to help the Thunderwolves.

if you insist running thunder wolves

Cut the inquisitor down to the bare ones needed. Cut the storm raven. add another shooting troops squad and another assualt squad (if you need more points the rhinos can go). you may not have the points for both, but you could either trade the troop wolves in for shooty wolves and then get a fighty teleporting DK and some other stuff, or keep the wolves but add in a troop choice of shooties and some DCA/ and assassin, etc.

I dont have the SW codex handy until my stuff arrives from my old apt, but why canis wolfborn? wouldn't a generic HQ with some options serve better cheaper?

Dang, what a downer. Thunder Wolves are the coolest. Until the Grey Knights get to ride around on deamons that have been placed into bondage, I will try to run Thunder Wolves whenever I can.

You could run a wolf guard battle leader with 2 wolf claws on a thunder wolf. It would save you about 60 points on the hq slot and you could then squeeze in a grey hunter squad or 2 with some other trimmings( why extra armor on the storm raven? Doesn't fortitude do the same thing for free?)
