Slaughter in Space 4
Brothers,
Just came back from a fun-filled 2-day GT in Los Angeles. It was the Slaughter in Space GT tourney. It was a rather small showing this year with only 24 players but it was a rather competitive/quality group of players.
I'm happy to say that I placed 4th overall (battle points + sportsmanship + painting). My win/loss/draw record was 3-2-1 so it was decent.
To my surprise, I got the 2nd Best Painted Army award! The reason I was surprised is because my army is totally unfinished. It is completely base coated and prepped to begin NMM but all I made sure going into the tournament was that it was tournament legal. So scoring just 2 points below the best painted army score was totally unexpected (and IMHO opinion, totally undeserved). There were many other armies that were completely finished that probably should have taken 2nd Best Painted. Oh well, got lucky I guess
Also, my custom dice was baptized in the fires of war...and did absolutely amazing!!!!
Two epic highlights from my matches:
Vs. Tyranids - 4 paladins held the line against 4 squads of termagaunts (58 total). They fire 58 flesh borers (S4) and cause 27 wounds. I make 27 2+ saves. They then assault and cause 17 wounds. I make 17 2+ saves. That's 44 straight 2+ saves without rolling a single "1". My opponent was speechless. Oh, my attacks + fearless saves (Tervigon was within 12" of them) killed 42 total.
The scene totally reminded me of the movie "300" where the spartans were just decimating the enemy army.
Vs. IG - My LR sped 12" and fired 1 lascannon shot at a Leman Russ Demolisher's front armor. I rolled a "6" to hit and then rolled a "6" for armor penetration. Rolled another "6" for damage result. Rolled a "6" for the d6 explosion The explosion killed 4 veterans and made them fall off the table Oh, it was a KP mission too lol

Gratulation Brother. Sounds like you had have a funny weekend. 44 armour saves are very unlikely to make but we all know, Lady Luck is a bitch.
And Thanks you for your best wishes on FB.

Unfortunately not. Each round had a time limit so I didn't have the chance to take pics.
Besides, like I mentioned, my army is far from finished and even though it's painted, it's not worthy of being posted yet
I promise I'll post each piece as it gets finished
Edit: my friend took pics of the Best Painted army (orks) and I'll try to post those soon.

Re: Slaughter in Space 4
Cool
I still think that it is amazing (and a testament to your painting skill) that you won second place for an unfinished army!
I am looking forward to seeing the orks, and more importantly YOUR progress
