Master crafted falchions?
Ok so im a bit confused with the MC fachions rules. In the codex it says they are MC'd for the once single re-roll, so does that mean i get 1 re-roll the entire game? or i get only 1 re-roll per turn? BTW this is on my grand master so are falchions even worth taking?

Re: Master crafted falchions?
You will get one re-roll every turn (your turn and opponents turn)
And no, they are not worth their points. Sword or halbert are good. Sword for the inv save and the halbert cause I 7 is something not many enemies can match up.

Thanks for clearing that up, but the grand master doesn't have an inv so he won't benefit the sword?

Re: Master crafted falchions?
Grandmaster has an Iron Halo for a base 4++ invul save. Sword gives him 3++.

At first Brother Rivan is right and second the GM wears terminator armour that alone give him a 5+ inv save.Brother Konrad wrote:Thanks for clearing that up, but the grand master doesn't have an inv so he won't benefit the sword?

Well thanks for answering my questions, totally forgot about termie inv. Although I don't recall a iron halo on a GM, i'll have to look into that.

Keep in mind the sword only helps the invuln in combat.

Of course, his Halo gives him a normal 4++ from ranged attacks then in CC he gains 3++, almost makes the warding stave irrelevant.

Re: Master crafted falchions?
Almost but not quite. The stave is still ~16% more effective than the sword, and that can be a lot. I counted my libby passing 6 saves on 2's in one game. I really like staves, especially on my squishy libby, but then I don't play in a super competitive tourney environment so squeezing in the points for it is easy. YMMV as always.Brother Konrad wrote:Of course, his Halo gives him a normal 4++ from ranged attacks then in CC he gains 3++, almost makes the warding stave irrelevant.

the big difference is. a GM pays 35 points to increase his invul save from 3+ to 2+ while the libby pays 35 points to increase his invul from a 5+ to a 2+. thats why its not that efficient for a GM

Re: Master crafted falchions?
True, but that is only if the GM already has a sword :p Otherwise its from a 4+ to a 2+ and if your thinking about making him a real rock, maybe delivered straight into combat with a LR or SR then the stave might be worth considering.
It is far more worthwhile for the Lib though.
The other way to look at it is that in CC at least the stave increases survivability by 100% from a 1/3 to a 1/6. I've had some opponents astonished at how well a 2 wound Lib can hold out with his stave
