Hello everyone!

I am considering making 1000P Pure Grey Knights list with as much bodies on field as possible. (As little vehicles as possible)

HQ - Brother-Captain - 150P
HQ - Brotherhood Champion 100P

10x GreyKnights, 2x Pyscannons, Daemonhammer, Psybolts 7x nemesis halberds - 275

10x GreyKnights, 2x Pyscannons, Daemonhammer, Psybolts 7x nemesis halberds - 275

5x Grey Knights Terminators, Daemonhammer, 4x Halberds - 200P

1000P, No Vehicles or firesupport other than 4 Psycannons. I should be dealth with most marine armies somewhat effeciently aslong there's no huge AV13 spam and dreadnought spam. Currently there is no much vehicles but mainly they are played with troops.

Tactics: Use terrain as much to get cover and lure enemies good place, depending mission. Brother-Captain and Champion do not join any units. Captain keeps his Nemesis force sword. Combined with force sword and Iron halo, he gets 3++ save in CC where I plan to use him to take out my friends wolf lord and terminator captains. As current rules lists can exceed maximum limit by 5P so with 1000P list can be upto 1005P so if Nemesis force sword is not good I can always opit force force halberd for 5P or Psyammos.

I plan to use Brother-captain and brother champion as my CC unit taking down heavier units I will encounter: Terminators and HQ units, while rest units use their weapons to lay down as much fire as possible before charging units. I see Grey Knights as army that shoots alot, shoots some more when hail of fire has shredded units they assault and finish remnants with force weapons. I might be mistaken but this is how I see.

Everyunit has Daemonhammer to crack open enemy transports combined hammers with hammers should keep too friendly dreadnoughts away too. When Expanding 1250P I probably get Librarian so I can get Shrouding and Might of the Titan... Or I might Drop Brother-Captain and Get Librarian instead and immediately... Opinions?

Two HQs isn't a great idea.

Halberds are also not very good on GKSS. Purifiers would be more ideal.
They are also quite good with Crowe making them Troops.

You'll get far more mileage from Purifiers in a body heavy list.

Also a good idea to get some Psyflemen, your very light on anti tank. Relying upon hammers in combat is a poor way to deal with transports, it means you don't get to assault the contents and is just the least efficient way of doing things. Its a last resort.

Since I got crowe I could do that but usually games here don't allow named characters, which kinda sucks... I got Crowe already which would make it kinda nice having 2x psy cannons and 2 x incenerators in 10 man unit or 4xpsycannons. But just for fun, let's assume they allow me to run Crowe and purifier squads as troops (in which I need to re-paint the helmets)

I've kinda focused on troops so I kinda missed the dreadnought. Sounds nice. You'll take basic SM dreadnought, get some autocannons and fiddle 2x twin-linked autocannons with psybolts... I like it. I like it alot.

Would Nemesis swords or Falchions be more desired option for GKSS?

Normally swords since they are cheap. There isn't much you can do to GKSS that really improve their combat prowess, they are better than most normal marines on the charge, but anything else is points wasted. Not that halberds are bad, but with 1 base attack you pay alot of points comparative to the cost of the unit for the upgrade.

Changing the purifier helms is really just an option, while it can be fun I've always tried to build my armies so units can fill as many roles as possible. GWS encourages all the different colour helms to sell models.

The no named character thing is frankly ridiculous, most modern codexes basically require named characters, especially for the FoC modifications.
I still can't understand how the whole 'special character' needing permission thing managed to continue into the new edition.

Too many close minded fools running gaming circles. Anyway I probably shouldn't rant too much about it Razz Its not your fault.

Autocannon dreads you can buy the arms (FW), or convert them from an aegis defence line kit. Or get the the new forgeworld dreadnought which has them as options. The contemptor.
They are without a doubt the best thing in the GK codex, giving cheap and nasty light anti tank.

As a general rule, Terminators should always get halberds and a hammer, and maybe a sword (for the invuln) but its optional. In squads of 10 or 8+ a banner and Psybolt ammo is worth it. Cannons with relentless is priceless.

GKSS are best just with the normal sword, everything else is too exp. Their upgrades are normally PsyCannons and Psybolt Ammo.

GK-I are the same as GKSS but Incinerators aren't bad due to their movement.

Purifiers are worth giving Halberds thanks to an extra attack and better combat prowess. If you max special weapons don't bother with PsyAmmo, if you only take 2 in a 10 man squad its probably still worthwhile. They also benefit from a hammer or two.

Paladins you want to mix weapons for wound allocation, again PsyCannons with relentless are priceless.

I ust put my 10 GKSS with space wolf gray helmets, ergo a Purifiers. I probably need to get more boxes of grey knights so I can make flamers, now it stands: 1 Daemonhammer, 2 Psycannons and 7 halberds.

I think I'll order some Cadian autocannonbits and make myself that way Rifleman dread. I use red shoulderpad trims on my Grey Kngiths so I might paint dreadnought with silvers, except weapons arms which would become red. To suit grey trimmed shoulder pad of my Grey Knights and so I could swap if needed arms with my Blood angels dreadnought...

So I basically have now Crowe and 10 Purifiers with halbreds, hammer and 2 cannons. Not too bad.

HQ - Castellan Crowe - 150P

Troops - 9 X Purifiers, MC Daemon Hammer for Knight of flame, 2x PsyCannons and a incerator with 5x halberds. 256P

Troops - 9 X Purifiers, MC Daemon Hammer for Knight of flame, 2x PsyCannons and a incerator with 5x halberds. 256P

Troops - 5 Terminators. 4x Halberds and a Daemonhammer - 200P

Heavy Support - Dreadnought 2x Twin-linked Autocannons and psybolts - 135p

total with my calculations: 997P.

25 models on field. That's quite easily transported too.

This might act as nice base if I want to try something else like use more termies... I do find painting grey knights hard to paint. Much harder to paint well than blood angels...

I have alternative list:

Crowe - 150p

2x10 purifiers, Daemonhammer, 4 psycannons, 5 halberds, psybolts + Rhino: 356

2x10 purifiers, Daemonhammer, 4 psycannons, 5 halberds, psybolts + Rhino: 356

Psyfleman dread - 135

995P

Riskyone. I lose one troops selection but I gain movile force and with rhinos I get fireports. I leave Crowe hanging around somehwere with Psyfileman, which provides longrange support till rhinos move out on objective pop smoke. I disembark my purifiers and make nasty fire base shredding pretty much anything that comes 24" or closer. Then I move dreadnough with Crowe closer extending firebase range with dreadnoguht and crowe hangsout with dreadnought so enemy won't get immeediately free KP and in case some scouts might do something for my dreads after infiltrating...

Its fast, its aggressive its like blood angel player playing Grey Knights.

When expanding bigger games I can use modular upgrade plan: 10x Purifiers, 4 psycannons, a daemonhammer with rhino: 356 + one more psyfleman 135: 491P giving me roughly 1500P, Making 491P modules.

Another combat module gives me roughly 2000K points, 4x10man purificators 16 psycannons, 3 psyfleman dreads. I can dishout incredible amount of shots but I am still bit troubles when enemy starts using landraiders and other big guns... but I always can adjust mylists taking something nasty too.
