1200 mini tournament list
Hey guys, first post here so count it as my introduction hehe..
hope everyones christmas and new years was awesome,
Just wanted peoples opinions on my list here so hopefully I get some good feedback
HQ: Grand Master
- Psychostroke Grenades
- Blind Grenades
- x2 Servo Skulls
- 205 points
Elites: Paladin Squad x7
- x4 Psycannon
- x3 Nemesis Force Halberd
- x2 Daemon Hammer
- Master-Crafted Psycannon
(Psycannon/Sword, Psycannon/Halberd, Psycannon/Hammer,
Master-Crafted Psycannon/Halberd, Sword, Halberd, Hammer)
- 430
Troops: Grey Knight Strike Squad x6
- Psycannon
- x2 Halberds
- 140 points

- x2 Twin-Linked Autocannons
- Psybolt Ammunition

Total: 1195 points
Pretty standard list here as far as grey knights are concerned but I thought i'd post anyway.
Grand Strategy makes as many scoring units as possible, the paladins then the dreadnoughts,
servo skulls deny enemy infiltrators and place on objectives to deep strike everything in, dreadnoughts
sit back, shoot and hold. Paladins give hits and take hits, strike squads contest.
Now, do you think the paladins are overkill for this points level? I have a few other lists that substitute the
7 paladins for 10 normal terminators however paladins are quite survivable. Similarly, the two dreadnoughts
can be swapped for 1 venerable dread for the same reason as the paladins, makes it hard to kill.
Swapping the two dreads lets me take an extra few models in the strike squads with hammers to cover
the lost in anti-tank, and maybe an extra paladin.
Thanks for looking

Re: 1200 mini tournament list
First problem that caught my eye: the paladins can only take 2 heavy weapons for each 5 squad members; so 4 for 7 is NOT allowed so you'll probably lose your wound allocation on the paladins...
secondly your dreads are 135p not 140
strike squads really could use a transport though to get them to the objectives

Re: 1200 mini tournament list
ahh s***! haha, probably should have mentioned im new to grey knights as well haha, and i've only played a few friendlies after getting back into the hobby after a few years so we both made mistakes.
but hey, thanks for replying! cant believe I missed the ruling on the psycannons as well so thanks for spotting that. Poor maths on the dreadnought on my part.
I guess theres another 35 points free then..
I was also thinking about rhinos but then id be tempted to change up to purifiers which im not really keen on doing. Plus id lose the paladins, which now having two less psycannons is still a pretty beast unit.
Maybe i'll try a few more options and ask again..
thanks anyway though

Re: 1200 mini tournament list
2 troops of 6 GK is too short imho
as you play at 1200, and as you don't use Draigo to make your Pallies scoring, i think you need more - for nearly the same amount of point - GK termies that are troops and that you can split in 2x5 GKT units. ok they are less cool than the pallies but with them, you'll increase your body count for a small decrease of efficiency.
then it would be useful to increase the number of GKSS in your units and give them a rhino for mobility
btw welcome on this board

Re: 1200 mini tournament list
hey, thanks for the welcoming and the feedback
yeah, the list is low on scoring, but im kind of relying on the grand master to roll a decent d3 to add scoring units to the army at the start of the game. in the two matches I\'ve played so far i got and extra 2 units (paladins and one dreadnought) and 3 in the other (paladins, two dreads) so theres potentially 5 scoring units. But your right, the 6 man squads have been easy to kill, although in my revised list they are mounted in rhinos.
I could switch for normal termies but for 360 points i get 8 bases with only 1 psycannon as opposed to 6 paladins with 2 psycannons and way harder to kill. the difference wounds wise is 8 with the normal termies vs 12 (assuming all allocated wounds) for paladins. Plus the grand master joins to absorb wounds. I know its a fair power play but its been a solid unit so far (two games is probably hardly enough to judge though haha). Despite this, do you still think normal terminators would be a better choice to ensure another scoring unit?
thanks for your feedback
