Hello! New here from Seattle Empty Hello! New here from Seattle

Post by XZit Mon Aug 29, 2011 8:55 pm

Hey guys! New here.
Just started collecting grey knights. I was into 40k years ago, way back in highschool--recently my interest has been rekindeled and decided to go with GK because I LOVE the models, the tactics etc. I also like demonhunters, inquisitor, and ad-mech stuff so gk is perfect.

I come from Seattle, WA-I'm really interested in the modeling and painting techniques.
I just bought the assault on black reach set as I need the new rule book, and I want to get my painting techniques up to par before i start painting some GK. I'll be converting w/e models I can in the AoBR set using some bits I got off ebay, and the GK terminator box set (which I still need to buy)

Eventually I'll have a GK army that has ad-mech/inquisitor as support-and be playing a separate secondary army that will be ad-mech dominate (not sure what codex I'll use for them, possibly play them as 'dark ad-mech' fielding them with the CSM codex, or as IG with the IG codex. I still need to check out the GK codex (which is on its way) and see how I can incorperate ad-mech into the army.

I also eventually want to have a super/uber elite troop of ~5 GKs with each one fully customized/converted with various parts/scribor miniatures/hi-tech miniature models. I'll also be creating 'ghost knights' from the Vampire Counts Grave Guard set converted with halberds etc. (I want a undead-ghost feel, and want to try something else then standard Gk models as proxys for the ghosts)

Anyhow that's my intro! I'll be posting more soon! Thx for the hellos/inputs/suggestions into my plans!

I should give some credit to thatguyjames for the vampire counts idea-check him out for some nice inspiration and good ideas on bit box sets etc. that work great with gk Smile

welcome on board brother ... i'm curious about the result of your WIP... have you anticipate some difference of size between GKs and the vampire counts stuff ?

Sup guys . Sorry for the long delay in updating u all with my wip. I just finished converting the aobr guys to gk with empire flagelent and gk bits. I just need to greenstuff a rope for one of the guys very minimal gs was used on these guys if any at all. Mainly lots if filing. One of them I did, then completly redid had to get off all the old glue etc. I'll take pics when I can. I won't b working on the ghost knights for a while, first thing is to keep building up troops. Next project will likely be some "gk cursaders" (paladins) were I will be using gk termie bits and microart studios cursader legs scribor shoulder pads etc. may also tackle a gk strike squad using sanquinius guard wings (look on Google some guy did it looks tight). Next immediate conversion is the oop inquisitor with bionic leg conversion with gk parts .

Not sure what to buy next . Will prob. be some various bits, but I also need to work on inquisitoral henchmen, storm troopers and possible chimera. Just tossing around ideas right now, and working on custom conversions. I'll get some pics of my current wip (aobr termies to gk) as soon as possible.

Any suggestions for my next purchases greatly appreciated as I'm trying to save w/e money I can yet get some bits and build up my forces slowly but steadily. BTW I may pay out for a scribor or high tech miniture model for hq, but I do have my inquisitor and I converted a aobr termie to a libarian.

Take care brothers
