Just getting into 40k and trying to build me a good core list to eventually build up to 2000 points. I eventually want to end up with a Draigo paladin army with some mech support. I'm really just looking for a good looking and fun playing army to play. But help is definitely appreciated and needed.

HQ

Librarian-
Quicksilver
Might of Titan
The Summoning
The Shrouding
Total - 170

3 Servo-skulls
Total - 15

Troops

5 x Terminators-
Psycannon
2 Hammers
2 Halberds
Total - 225

Psycannon
2 Hammers
2 Halberds
Total - 225

Elite

Venerable Dreadnought-
2 x Twin-linked Autocannon
Psybolt Ammo
Total - 195

Heavy Support

Dreadknight-
Daemon Hammer
Heavy Incinerator
Total - 170

I was thinking overall strategy was to get the servo-skulls out in front to tangle up a unit and be annoying while I move up. Was hoping venerable dreadnought would be tough enough to be able to take out some armor while the dreadknight could do the same and help out on some horde control.

Servo skulls help you deepstrike, they disappear if an opponent gets close to them. Useful as a distraction perhaps....

Lib is a good choice for HQ, maybe get Warprift, for 5 points it can be invaluable.

I'd probably say get 1 hammer, 4 halb per squad, but even 2 ham, 3 halb should be ok.

Get two normal Psyflemen dreads.
At this point level two will be worth far more than a single ven.

The hammer on the DK is up to you, but he will already be s6, with 2d6 pen, and will be lucky to hit combat. The sword is generally the better choice, but is far more expensive. The incin is the best weapon however, so well chosen.

You will be light on troops (at 1250 just add more GKT) but your entire army will be very tough, and very elite.

Minus the skulls, Quicksilver (doesn't help hammers and halbs are already I6) and Summoning, and the hammer on the DK and you have the points for the two Psyflemen, if my math is right.
