Re: digging the archeovaults of GW
my point about (ancient) originality versus (today) modularity ... here are the first GKT from the Citadel Autumn 1989 Trade Catalogue.
http://solegends.com/citcat89autumn/c89aut-070204-1-01.jpg
imagine the eyes of a new player seeing those gorgous models for the first time ...
ok, today we can easier convert and work the plastic or the resin, but in those days you didn't have to ... because of the originality of those models
Have you ever thought to convert those models ?? ... i hope not !!
it's like heresy, isn't it !?
btw, it in 1989 that the termies found there present look and iconography
http://solegends.com/citcat89autumn/c89aut-070204-2-01.jpg
note the presence of jokaero digital weapons and the old shape of the psycannon

Re: digging the archeovaults of GW
I remember those sentinels - they were simply awesome.
I agree that the quality of sculpts in days gone by were incredible. Just looking at all of the metal Dwarves I found in my bits box the other day made me want to get my paint brush out because I know that they would be a joy to paint.
However, I like each of my models to be unique in some way. I think that is the main reason I've never been able to get into Warhammer - massed ranks of unnamed warriors just doesn't do it for me.
It's another reason I enjoy the plastic kits you can get today - you can assemble models so that none are identical. OK they may have the same pieces, but you can just do so much more with them.
It's another good reason why I like Grey Knights. Each one has their own name and heraldry on their shoulder pad. I'm also thinking of nominating a 'man of the match' in each game I play, and add small battle honours to that individual model each time they become man of the match.
You couldn't really do anything like that with the older metals, as you'd have the same model 4 or 5 times (at least!) in your force.

Fantastic models! Those sorcerer-looking inquisitors look cool, but I definitely like the ones you posted in terminator armor better.
So when it says "Titan Crew" does it mean Titan as in our homeworld (Saturn's moon) or as in the really large mechanical fellas? This question actually comes up fairly often for me...

i agree with you brother the TDA inquisitors are better shaped and most characterful models
as for the titan crew... ... i thought it was the crew of titan models like reaver or warhound or (under the orders of a Titan Princeps) ... ? but the point that you made in evidence makes me not so sure of me ... they could be human servitors of the inquisition in Titan ...
someone ? ... something ?

now some robots ... yes in those years you could field robots
http://solegends.com/citcat911/c2025smrobots.jpg
tomorrow we'll open the Pandora Box, the Liber Chaotica and see what our Archenemy could field on those past days and to be true His army was a lot more original and characterful than today ... plus there was the Realms of Chaos (Slave to Darkness and The Lost and the Damned), the 2 jewels of that past edition !!

BrentK,back then you could program your robot to do a mission, assault/destroy/defend once it was programed off it went(kind of like x's & o's of a football/rugby plays) until it was destroyed or completed its mission. Then you started over with a new task for it. I'm not quite sure how it was programed.....can't remember it has been 20+years,I'm going to go back and look for it in the old WD's and past compendium's unless you got it handy,Auec le noir.
