Lol.

The "Archeologist" we should just call him indy, was fun.

And the smile of that mad scientist.... *Shudder*

That one will haunt me.
So, what chapter should i do my old school libby? I've gotten ideas for ultramarine, salamander, dark angel and grey knight, don't really feel like ultramarine and i won't do it codex precise (libbys having blue armour.)

why not : the exorcists or red hunters ... they're inquisition-related and have some red for base colour, that is a good association with the blue of the libbies... scratch
for today a curiosity (in shape anyway) : the Space Crusade plastic Dreadnoughts :
http://solegends.com/citrt/dreadnought1.jpg
http://solegends.com/citrt/dreadnought2.jpg
and the old Jes Goodwin Harlequins, proof that old minis could be very actuals, and that originality and quality is intemporal.

some ephemerous 40k concept the 40K minotaurs
http://solegends.com/citrare/40kminotaurs.jpg
and some curiosity, supposed to be (by stuff of legend guys) a prototype for the tyranid role ... scupted by bob Naismith

LOL!!!!!!
What a trip down memory lane!
I actually owned the chainsword assault marine from that SM boxed set, and Brother Stalker was/is one of my favorites of ALL time, I'm still not sure what weapon he is carying scratch , but it is the same as the Crimson fist on the cover of the Rogue Trader book.

yes i know ... it's the purpose !! Razz Razz Wink
in fact i made that post to show the charm of those old models even though some are anatomically wrong !! Razz
they are the essence of the hobby and the beginning of 40K, and never the new models (even though they might be superior in shape) could handle half of the character of those old models made by artisans / artists not by CAO... Wink
sometimes when i feel a little nostalgic i open one of my old catalogues (1981, 1982, 2nd and 3d compendium, 1988, 1991 ... you name it) and always get happier cheers cheers
tomorrow will be another happy day Razz cheers

Brother Aubec, how much were they back then? In US dallar/euro equivalent? I remember those models but got more intersted in the later models. The changes of the models appearance are a huge change. I haven't met a gamer with the old stuff. I guess those are kept in a glass case. Smile

In the late 80's you could get a blister pack with 5-6 figures in it for about 6.50 to 10.00 U.S. dollars depending on what was in the blister IIRC. At the time you had better sculptors too, like the Perry twins/Jes Goodwin/Bob Olley and others. They turned out some great figures,For them to have what they now know back then.......Can you imagine there possibilities Shocked

though i despise plastic ... thoses are specials : the first SM plastic sprue in the 1988 catalogue, and frankly except the pose there isn't so much improvment of the plastic SM today !! ... am i insincere ? ... well yes ! Twisted Evil but the scheme was already there.

the IG rapier and the IG heavies

and pirats and adventurers ... so much diversity and choice affraid

in the adventurers you can see a scratch of the John Blanche Amazon and one of the first Navigator (for instance...)

I used to have the Rapier - it was in a box of metal stuff my neighbour gave me when he gave up on GW.

I also love the fact that IG used to carry the heavy weapons on their shoulders like SM - those were proper men, not the pansies we have today with their 2 man crews!

( grumpy dwarf mode on)
guards were tougher in the past, SM were bigger and tougher in the past, technology was better in the past ... and minis were in metal in the past ... everything was better bigger and stronger in the past !!
(grumpy dwarf mode off)
to be honest there's some modern guard models that are tough and well done (in metal of course Twisted Evil Wink ) : colonel straken, sarge Harker, marbo or the tough guy of the Gaunt Ghosts are beautiful models ! Wink
but again the charm of those old models is very appealing to me

I used to have the Rapier also!!!! I bought it though.

I agree that the old metals do have a certain charm to them, but I still appreciate the new plastics.
