Re: digging the archeovaults of GW
On a similar note, weren't Orks supposedly bio-engineered to fight Necrons millions of years ago?

Re: digging the archeovaults of GW
Yep. I found this on the Ork page of the Warhammer 40k Wiki:
Orks had been created, in times long past, as a warrior race by the long-vanished Brain Boyz. This theme recurs in recent editions, the Orks having been created to fight the Necrons in the great interstellar conflict called the War in Heaven that shattered the galactic civilization of the Old Ones that existed prior to the rise of the Eldar.

Gah those Orks. I swear they look like they were drawn by a caricature artist on the streets in New Orleans. They just look so silly IMO. I do like the CSM's still though.

Re: digging the archeovaults of GW
There is lore that suggests nearly all the current sentient races (the major ones) (except Tau) were created by the Old Ones when it seemed that they would be unable to win the war against the Star Gods (and their Necron slave race).
The major weakness of this opponent being psykers.
That is why nearly all races have a certain amount of psychic ability, orcs latently, eldar strongly, and humans in a more balanced form.
Its further been suggested that these races then caused the creation of the chaos gods, or at the very least their empowerment as the emotions of sentient races filled the warp, and polarised it rather negatively.
The Tyranids, being an organism/attempt to then end all life in the universe, effectively starving the chaos gods.

Re: digging the archeovaults of GW
yes i know it's not the best metal models ever sculpted !
to be honest i prefer (for the bloodletters not the deamonettes) the new plastic ones ... more fidel to the first concept ... they would be awful in metal and not in plastic !
for the deamonettes ... i love the metal ones created by Juan Diaz just before the ugly plastic ones that GW sales now !

Re: digging the archeovaults of GW
I MUCH prefer the current bloodletters. They're really quite menacing looking. The older ones are basically just red, musclely humanoids.
I don't really like those first daemonettes you posted, but these look significantly better. I guess GW has to keep changing them in order to keep making money (and to update the with the new codexes and editions), but they really already hit the nail on the head with a lot of models. Once you've already reached the top, there's nowhere to go but down...

Thank you Brother!
This thread has started me thinking about converting the new plastic Blood Thirsters to be more like the Rouge Trader era ones by extending their torsos, and limbs....... Don't really have the money to do this right now, but it is definitely stored away in the CCV (Constantine Conversion Vault)

Re: digging the archeovaults of GW
The new deamonettes work great for female conversions.
Like necromunda gangers, elfs, and other females.
Not that good as actual deamons, unless you work a bit on them.
As for the fluff parts that is basic stuff that is "Shrouded in mystery" aka, nothing that proves or disproves it as canon.

Yeah but it's not heretical if we say the purifiers guarding the vault are the true heretics! Watch out Brother Constantine, we're coming for you and all of your creativity!

Your vision probably isn't far from the truth Brother , although I picture it being guarded by Paladins and all kinds of ingenious traps for those trying to loot it I would hate for Grey Knights to lose their lives trying to loot the vault (For rest assured NONE SHALL PASS) when really all you have to do is ask and I will gladly share my thoughts
I am thinking more and more about the Bloodletter conversions now!

Does anyone remember the word "friend" in elvish tongue? A Balrog? Our Librarian would make hamburger meat of a large daemon like that. I for one, always admired Gandalf, but never seen him kick butt like Yoda or use magic to smack Harry Potter upside the head, rubbing that crappy thunderbolt right off like a cheap press on tatoo! He probably forgot his mana potion in viles, geritol powder in tablet form, and viagra root
