Getting back in the saddle
Hello,
Just starting to make the final preparations for my return to 40k. I plan to play GK's exclusively and after reading many of the army lists etc I think Im close to a final grasp on my goal for an army build.
One model I am looking for is how to make a Grand Master in terminator armor. A simple idea I had was buying Stern and putting a standard GK terminator head.
Looking forward to joining the ranks of the Chapter Militant of the Ordo Malleus!

Welcome
Stern with a normal terminator helmet looks good but then I would personally replace his left arm with a psycannon or brother captain arm (the pointing one) but that depends on what wargear you want to give him.

Indeed, welcome!
I personally don't like what people do with poor Brother-Captain Stern's head. How many times have he deserved having it chopped of, really?
I myself have a WIP Grand Master, which is a converted BC from the GK termie box, with his spear exchanged for Sterns sword (Okay, I'm no better, but atleast I got the sword from a bitbag, not by buying him and removing it >.>) and with magnetized arms, meaning he can carry any of his three weapon options, a Storm Bolter, Incinerator or a Psycannon. ^^

you can also use a GKT and put a deathwatch captain's head on it, or use the IL Victor REX as basis ( but it will be more expensive )

Re: Getting back in the saddle
Welcome Brother Drizl; I am sure that you will find whatever you need here
And as for Grandmaster, that is exactly what I did for mine. Works like a charm. Alternatively you could use a Brother Captain Grey Knight Terminator and greenstuff things to make him look like more of a Grandmaster. Giving your Grandmaster a Psycannon always looks epic too.

Close to 10 years. I never got too heavily into playing originally. Spent all my time learning/watching and when my "friends" started teaching me they would just proceed to pound me off the table without helping me learn. Got fed up gave my dear friend from Fenris about $1000 in assembled/bitz space marines. I also lacked patience then. Now I am older and wiser and need another hobby besides video games, and I've missed the 40k world.
As far as my plans I plan to get about 2k points worth of GK's. GM and a BC around 10 GKT's, 20ish PAGK and a few LRs. Then from there I plan to branch out and get some dreads etc. I like that the Grey KNights rely on skill and toughness over numbers and that just about no one outside of the Grey Knights communities respects them. Most importantly they are hands down the most bad @ss looking models in all of 40k.
Thanks for the tips everyone!

Re: Getting back in the saddle
Get some of the core stuff first: LR, 2 small squads of GK, 1 squad of GKTs. If your slow enough, GW might even release new miniatures (hopefully ), that way you don't have to buy so many of the "old" GK and you save money. LRs won't change though so get as many as you want .
Thats what I plan on doing, building my 1500pt army (I need a raider, GKD0, rhino and battle sisters). I will only expand my army further when new GKs come out. (I'm a minimalist, least money, effort and time )
Why don't we try using the abreviation D0 for dreadnought - see: D for dread, 0 (zero) for nought. Clever
