pure GK 1500
hey guys,
soz i aint checked in recently, been desperately trying to make my army work with practise and im glad to say after about 6 /7 months of my GKs being decimated up at my local GWS i managed to make my first victory 3 in one night
my first game was against Deldar, but as i know absolutly jack about deldar it became a very close game, it also means I've got know idea what i killed or got killed by xD only thing ill say if against deldar make the incubai PRIORITY, a 3man squad of them walked thru my 5man termintor squad b4 they cud hit back.
the second game 1500pts im able to give a report on
my list-

My enemy (Necrons)-
Necron lord with ressy orb

2 monoliths.
The Battle-
deployment,
in his deployment my left flank he had 2 monoliths side by side with a piece of terrain to the right of them in-line, about 12" in, on my right flank he had his destroyers. he got the first deployment which was nice as i could read his deployment and adjust accordingly. I set my orbital strike to the scenery next to his monolith. i should had taken a lance torpedo due to the no 2d6 ap value for melta. anyways, i put my melta dread on my left flank on a hill, going right i had my terminators deployed, this would form my left flank as a party popper diversion type idea. on my right flank towards the centre i put the psycannon G?K squad right further was my incinerator squad and behind them in a centre ish form on my right flank the dreadnought was slung.
my plan was that my 2 large GK squads wud decimate his destroyers and then go round the back and play with his necrons (the game was anihalation) and then if he wanted to retreat he cud port his necrons out front where my termies wud greet them willingly
Turn 1- Necrons
i failed to seize the initiative so he made his first move, moving his monolith squad set-up up its 6" his destoryers held within cover, he took his shooting phase doing well errm F all hehehe.
Turn 1 - Grey Knights
ok as planned my dreadnought and terminators moved up the left flank making an abvious attempt to draw as much attention to ourselves and making me seem an idiot with the charging some str6 termies into a AV 14 mono there is a ruin on my right flank about centre (this is a 4'*4' table) my psycannon squad went left around the ruin heading towards the destroyers, my incinterators went further along the right flank.
shooting my melta dread diid nothing, i ran my termies along with my incinerator squad. the dreadnought got lucky and turn one imobilised the monolith, gthe psycannon squad managed to kill 1 destroyer. a start to my plan.
turn 2 - Necrons
ok turn 2 i was now in range of his monos bit of a worry now, but he moved his destroyers further to his right flank in LoS of the incinerator squad ^^, other than that he didnt really move at all for the whole game . his monos shot at my melta dread destroying its melta arm, the desstroyers shot at the incinterator squad and i lost 2 GKs to the shoosting, his STR LBs failed to wound my termies
Turn 2 - Grey knights
my incinerators and psycannon squad moved up the right flank, my psycannon squad starting to veer left in preperation for the later objective, the incinerator squad wanted to ensure these destroyers didnt vget up first ( he failed his we'll be back on the destroyer), the termies moved up getting closer to the monolith, as did the melta dread. on my shooting phase, the incinerator squad completely destroyed the entire squad of destroyers + the necron lord. quite a proud accomplishment for me xD. the psycannon squad ran. as did the melta dread + termiies. my LSC dread shot at the same mono ( right one) but still not scoring much higher than what i wanted.
Turn 3- Necrons
gutted by the fact hed just lost his destroyers he didnt move but my psycannon squad had veered a bit to early and got shot at by the guas flayer, luckily is only killed 2 of the psycannon squad, my termies held out and just took everything, well almost one of them died to the AP1 shot lol.
Turn 3 Grey Knights
continued my move up, my incinerator squad now moving towards the left flank from near the right corner of the board, the psycannon squad carried on straight for a bit to get out of the range of them guass flayers, also veering left. my termies sat in front of the monolith giving a comfortable distance for a single squad of necrons to come thru , my melta dreadnought moved right up to the left mono, ( my ordinance strike came in on turn 2 but did jack all hence why i hadnt mentioned it) my LSC dread shot the right mono again to no gain, with my termies and melta dread where i wanted them, my GKs were a bit too far at this point for what i wanted and it wud take at least 2 more turns to get the into the necron warriors. my melta dread managed to hit the mono but it didnt really do much dmg except give my oponent something else to shoot at, not all bad
Turn 4 Necrons.
My poor opponent decided to play my game and teleported his necron warrior squad joined with the necron lord with ressy orb infront of my termies. he then rapid fired the necrons into my termies causing nothing at all at which point he then thought oh $*!@
Turn 4 - Grey Knights
i moved my psycannon and incinerator squads closer to there target, at which point i think my oponent realised the plan and expected the worse, with my psycannon squad just outside SB range a nd the incinerator squad not far off i decided to unleash the mother of the plan id planned quite well i thought , my termies shot the squad of warriors causing 3 wound pretty poor , then they charged and the rest of the squad kind of disapeared, tho he seperated his necron lord before combat so he still stood just out of base combat ^^. my GK sqauds running they were now in range for SBs to be flashing tho that wud have to wait til next turn, my dreadnoughts at this point had done theyre bit and the melta dread did nothing and in my error forgot bout the LSC dread lol.
Turn 5 - Necrons
ok so he wasnt going to move so his necron lord charged my GM and the termie squad, he necrons then fired upon my GK squad inflicting a total of nil wounds , the necron lord before being able to strike suffered a wound to my GM and well errm disapeared , with a total of about 2 necrons to kill before the phased out it wasnt looking to bright for my xenos heretic m8.

the GKs moved up closer, only just out of charging range tho it also meant that both squads would be able to shoot the necrons, the psycannon squad did fairly poor and killed one necron, but then my incinerator squad finished them off and inflicted 9 wounds, at which point he saw a 1 and admitted defeat with his xenos scumb disapearing before our eyes. daemons work in such cowardly ways ^^
was really proud of this game and im hoping this is the start of me being more confident in trusting the emporers strength and letting my GKs do the work while i tell em where to go
the 3rd game went bit too quick for me to have kept up with as to what happened but it was 1k GKs vs ORANGE!! space marines, i managed to defeat him by turn 4 but due to me being in a rush to not miss my bus my memory glands werent fucntioning properly

Congrats on the wins! Looks like you're getting through the learning curves of the pure GK army And you didn't even have any LR's. I'm impressed!

xD thanks brother rivan, tho in my mind LRs are glorified dreadnoughts , plus fact that its nearly 40 quid for a LR, but i think for this game, i cud of done with a LR so that i cud of sped up my right flank footslog

Well done, sir. As Rivan said, most impressive since you had no Land Raiders. And yes, those Incubi are damn stinky cheese. You seemed to have weathered that particular storm though.

I keep thinking that with the points you have invested in Word, Holy Relics and Melta Torpedos you could get yourself another Dread or minimum squad of GK's.
