Blood Angels novels

Has anyone read all of the BA novels?
I just finishe dthe most recent one and was wondering if anyone wanted to discuss it.

Not yet; I was thinking on doing it once I finished Ravenor omnibus and some more guard books.

I had read the first book. It was horrible. What a waste of time. At the end i used the book to fire up my grill. Not alone that Swallow has a slow, long-breathing writting style, he doesn´t know nothing whatsoever about BA and 40K. He should be hand over to the Inquisition for his demonical books, never to be heared of him again. BURN THE WITCH.

I agree that the first two books were boardering on kindling quality, but..............the last two were actually quite enjoyable.

Sorry, but the BA novels are waking the Bloodthirster in me.
Swallow can´t be serious. An Inquisitor as a thrusted ally of the BA? WTF ? And he knows about the Black Rage and the Red Thirst? Yeah, sure. The Inquisition has purged other Chapters for less. He can kill all Veteran Sergeants and all Astropaths and noone is scrutinizing it? Had the BA become such idiots or had they become lobotomized like servitors?
And the guy who took the Spear. He delivers a speech and all other BA, including the Chaplain and the Sanguinius Priest, see him as the reincarnation of Sanguinius? Someone should tell Swallow about the common paranoia amoung SM in relation of possession and such things. Where is Lee Harvey Oswald when you need him?!

I must admit that I am happy just enjoying a story without worrying too much about the "legitimacy" of it.

The whole thing is fantasy, so I am a little more lenient than you when it comes to these things. But I can see where you are coming from with many of your points.

I know i´m a fluffnazi. But such a tragical noble chapter like the BA have deserved something better then that what Swallow had done.

The more recent novels are A LOT better, and do not show the Chapter as weak or gulable. There are actually some AWESOME battle scenes AND worthy foes (Fabius Bile).

One thing that bugs me about the BAs though, is that Dante is the oldest Chapter Master ever but............in the novels AND IMHO the codex he seems to be secondary to Mephiston, who is wiser, faster, stronger, and arguably more feared/respected.

Do any of you have thoughts on this?

I'd say that Dante should have more respect because he is the oldest known living Imperial Space Marine in existance and is the Chapter Master.

But then again Mephiston has defeated the Rage(and the Face with it)so he should also have a lot of respect,because I think there are only a few who have done that(not counting in one of the chapter formed out of the BA,which managed to find a cure for it,but got allmoust compleately anhinilated by extremely bad luck,was that Chapter Lamenters?) and I think only 2 have been named so far,Mephiston and brother Corbulo I think.

But I'd say that if they depict Mephiston as better than Dante,then theyr giving wrong kind of picture to people.

I agree that they are giving the wrong kind of picture........... but that is what they are doing! from my interpretation of things Dante's respect comes from the fact that he is old, whereas Mephiston's comes from his power.

It is ONLY Mephiston that has survived the Black rage, NO OTHER.

The lamenters have "cured" it, but none of them has fallen to it and recovered.

LOL! NO I don't think you are slow! Why would you jump to that conclusion?

I was trying to calrify the status of the chapters in relation to the Blackrage.

Exactly! The Lementers don't even get the Black rage....I have read that since they cured themselves of the Black rage that they became cursed with bad luck............I don't like their cances of curing that

Thnaks Brothers for your inputs, I can't wait to finally read the BA Omnibus. I had just ordered it this year when I changed my Allied Space Marine army "The Red Hunters", plenty of Inquisition fluff on line of this chapter, into Blood Angels with a deeper red i call "blood lust rust". If the "no more allies" in the new GK Codex rumors are true than the Blood Angels are my best bet. Reading the BA books will give me a better understanding of my new chapter. Don't get me wrong, I started as a Grey Knight and by the Emperor's throne, I will die as a Grey Knight!
