Grey Knights - IG as proxy Inquisitorial Stormtroopers

Hello All

I know the list is an IG list with GK allies but I am a Deamonhunters player who loves the smell of napalm in the morning (or evening, midday etc....) I wanted to try and create a speedy interdiction force based around Grey Knights, this is by no means finished but I just wanted to see what you folks thought, will it work...It's more about fun and theme for me with this list; however I appreciate your sage advice. Here we go, the list is going to be for a 2000 point force

HQ Lord Commissar (Carapace armour, bolt pistol, power sword) will be a Captain in the Inquisitorial Storm troopers

Troops 2 x IG vets - carapace armour, 3 x spec weps (melta's), sgt power sword Las/bolt pistol will be Inquisitorial storm troopers.

Allied troops 2 x 10 Gk's

Allied Elite and/or HQ 10 or 2 5's GKT's

Fast 2 x valk lascannon 2 MRP
1 x valk as above
1 x valk as above

My intention is mount the infantry in the Valks, IG Vets in the 2 x Valk squadron and the GKPA in the other 2 valks, deep strike termies – tactics will depend on my opponent.

Looks cool. I like the theme. A nice rapid insertion force. I drool at the thought of 10 GK's bootin' it around in a Valk. If only they could start game inside them. A hearty welcome to the forum to you.

That army is going to look so cool on the table top! I love valkyries although I don't have an IG army.

i thought that GKPA couldn't take a Valkyrie ??
btw if you use IG vets as IST, i don't understand the 3 meltas

I don't think the Valks are dedictated so the GKPA's can ride them. It's the GKT's people were wishing could ride in them but can't. DH IST can have 3 meltas as well. Two for the Troopers and one for a Vet. If that's what you were refering to Aubec.

oh yes ... i forgot the vet...
But in the codex there no remark about Valk for GKPA (if i'm remembering well they only can have rhinos ... )

I'm using the GK's as allies to the IG force, so the Valks are the fast choice from the IG codex plus the IG vets posing as Stormtroopers (troop choice) and the Commissar posing as a Stormtrooper Captain (HQ choice) The GKPA are allies and will be useing the Valks as transport in line with 5th edition transport rules.

Have you thought to add Incinerators to the PAGK?
Also Why don't you take a Inquisitor Lord inside one of them Valkery's

Hello mate - nice idea, but I was trying to get an extra troop choice in for holding/capturing objectives. It's good to have options though - so thanks for the input

Bah!No amount of extra troops or anything will halt the Chaos advance.But I guess your force would look quite nice on the battlefield.

since you are IG have you considered throwing a leman russ in the mix. even a battle cannon would work depending on the board but even one turn of one good shot from a cannon could change battle for the game. till your valk. get in a good deployment range i would recomend putting some support to suppress the enemy. and if you could sacrafice a very cheap squad of guardsman to go around the tank(s), You get a cover save and deep striking units cant assault unless they go through your meat shield.
