1000 Point Inquisition Force

Well here is one of my attempts at forming a list composed of ISTs and Inquisitors, so let me know what you think.

HQ - Inquisitor Lord
- Psycannon (Master Crafted)
- Psychic Hood
- Retinue - 2x Heavy Bolters, 1x Plasma Cannon, 2x Sages, 2x Mystics
- Dedicated Transport - Land Raider (Extra Armor, Smoke)

Elites - Inquisitor
- Bolt Pistol
- Artificer Armor
- Power Weapon
- Retinue - 2x Flamers, 1x Hellpistol/CCW
- Dedicated Transport - Chimera (EA, Smoke, Multilaser, Heavy Flamer, Dozer)

Troops - Storm Troopers - 8x
- 2x Meltaguns
- Rhino - EA, Smoke

Troops - Storm Troopers - 8x
- 1x Meltagun
- 1x Plasma gun
- Rhino - EA, Smoke


Well this is just one list that I came up with but I was looking for a mobile attack force. Came up with this list after attempting to see how many Land Raiders I could possibly field while maintaining a decent size squads of ISTs in Rhinos with meltaguns. Didn't work out too well so I dropped the raider for my Chimera.

Anyway, I'm actually not too fond of the Elite Inquisitor squad and feeling that a Calidus or an Eversor might be a better unit to use. Right now I'm not too sure but let me know what are your opinions. Of course if the Elites are swapped, I will have roughly 70 Points left over (if a Calidus is the choice. So let me know what you think might be a good viable option.

How about removing the elite inquisitor and adding another squad of stormtroopers?

Do you have enought points to remove the elite inq and swap it for an assassin and some storm troopers? Its quite a good list otherwise, lots of character.

As for the assassin I would field an eversor because he is 2.5 storm troopers cheaper than a callidus assassin.

What I've noticed is that NOBODY ever fields death cult assassins in their army, is it because they are weak?

I would probably also go for the eversor and just play with the remaining points.

DC assassins are fun to use but very difficult to use effectively. IMO, they have to be used enmasse to be effective. Even then, there are some serious drawbacks in annihilation missions. I use 6 in my 2000 pt inquisition army when I want to play for fun. For tourney's, I always use pure GKs

I'm personally not too fond of them at the moment due to lack of playing with assassins, but I can easily see how they can be a liability. Their attacks are power weapon attacks which is very nice, but that 5+ invulnerable save makes me cringe away from using them when that is all that they have. Anyway, that's the main issue with me buying them, nice models though.

Anyway, after considering the comments, I've adjusted the list so that it pretty much uses all of my ISTs (Based upon amount of non-special weapon units) into 2 lists. The first of which follows Brother Grimhacks suggestion.

To keep things simple, I'm just going to post what I've changed down here without having to type the lists:

Inquisitor - Given the Emperors Tarot along with an extra Mystic and Sage
3x Squads of ISTs - each with two special weapons (1x Plasma and 1x Melta a piece)
2x Rhinos - Gear is same as above (7x IST's)
1x Chimera - Gear is same as above (6x IST's)

And for the last one with an Assassin, I've came up with this:

2x IST squads - 9 man squads, same layout as before
1x Eversor
1x Lance Strike

I really couldn't field anything else at the moment and decided on something that would be flashy.
