I like/play the Grey Knights because......

I couldn't help but notice that some of our Brothers are feeling a little down latley, what with the release of the 5th edition and no GK update in the near future .

My intention with this thread is to lift our spirits and remind ourselves why we chose to play these noble warriors Please feel free to add to the list. Mine will be short because I have a very busy schedule.

So without any further delay.....

I like the Grey Knights because:

-They look cool
-The idea of fighting against impossible odds is exciting to me
-I don't like Daemons
-Their novels were great to read
-I put a lot of time into painting, and GKs are a small force
-they made this forum possible

I hope you get the idea and choose to add to this humble begging of what I'm sure will be an epic list!!!!

- There is power in style, which our army has alot of.
- Grey Knight Terminators - Enough said
- What other army has the ability to use hammers, swords, halberds, maces, infact any sort of close combat weapon design and still have it count as an awesome weapon like the Nemesis Force Weapon?
- Grey Knight Terminators in Apocalypse - Deep Striking into the middle of 4 buildings, and watching the Ork Gargant next to them blow up in a game, they were the only thing left standing at the enemies end of the table, and they held their own until reinforcements arrived

Most likely the same reasons as anybody else who plays them: the models, the fluff/background, the uniqueness/elitism of them, the challenge of play.

-Storm Shields apparantly give a 3+ Inv against everything in 5th edition - GK Terminators just got even better, for example, a 5 man Squad with a B-C with Psycannon, a random Terminator with a Psycannon, and the other three using Thunder Hammers and Storm Shields (for Armour/Invulnerable majority and protection) Great at long range and in C/C
-in my opinion, their Geneseed comes from the Emperor
-Outnumbered but never outmatched
-holocaust
-Not one of them has fallen to chaos
-they accept their fate, and therefore fear nothing

The very presence of a grey knight puts fear in the heart of the deamon!

The very presence of a grey knight speaks of an infestation of such proportions that no force in the galaxy can prevail, and yet, they prevail!

Epic powerposing while killing stuff is what 40k is all about, grey knights are very good at fighting and have nice shining armour that stands out on the battlefield so they can powerpose even more!

Holocaust is the most cool last stand psychic power there is, especially if you read the dark heresy version of it!

Grey knight terminators are so cool they made me collect an entire army of grey knights, just so i could have them!

Epic awesome, and epic powerpose!

my brother and eternar rival has turnd to chaos , demonhunters was the obvious choice.

the ability of transporting 2000 points worth in my backpack instead of the big big army transport bag

i can use thies guys to boost my marines killing power
for 6 pnt more i get terminators with wp5 and st6 , i use GKT as anti enemi terminator units

i get troops that are as badass as my elites .

psicannons are nasty long range , insinerators can cook if your assaulting .

stormtroopers are under rated , cheep .... mobile and KILLY if you play them right , i puld more victorys with a squad of troopers than any other unit .

oh i forgot , THER KILL DEMONS

The Grey Knights are the BANE of Daemon kind! The elite of the elites, making even normal Space Marines look like what Space marines look like next to guardsmen!

-Fluff is epic. Namely Ben Counter's Grey Knights Omnibus

-Their models look awesome; albeit its annoying with all the work you must put into metal models, I wouldn't have it any other way at the end of the day.

-Few in numbers, they are always outnumbered but never falter against the tide.

-A difficult army to play, but one that has more then potential to be devastating.

-Destroys the foul Daemons and Heretics, nasty tricks will never prevail on them

-All of them are pyskers! They hold Nemesis blades and Force Weapons.

-The holy Holocaust is bloody awesome.

-GREY KNIGHT TERMINATORS ANYONE??

-Not one of them has fallen to Chaos or taint, and they show immense will power and intuition. No other Space marine nor chapter has this honor.

Honestly, these guys are amazing. They embody man kind on an interesting level of irony; being augmented and put through 666 trials, and they fight for humanity and the Emperor *Aka God*.

Yeah, everything that everybody above mentioned already...but specifically and most specially:
THE CHALLENGE - It is such a sweet sense of achievement/enjoyment/exhiliration whenever my army of 28 models and 2 tanks convincingly defeats my opponent's army comprised of 78 models, 5 tanks and 2 gunships...by simply using tactics and strategy.

AND...
THE FLEXIBILITY - Should I ever want to take a break from playing an all GK army, I could switch to an Inquisition army, a mixed Inquisition-GK army, an Inquisition-Sisters army, etc. Sooo many combinations to choose from...I LOVE GREY KNIGHTS!!!!!

I love Grey Knights because:

All there cool gadgets!
The NFW is like a lightsaber but more brutal!
The Incinerator - IMO I love it! Holy Water and flame all pumped out at the sametime!

I think this guy is cooler than a Dreadnought! He's a mean keen fighting machine!

Killing Daemons, IMO if anything could make me feel better playing 40k would be banishing daemons. It's like being a priest but being able to be fanatical about killing! IMO awesome!

The Novels are fricken awesome! Everyone should read them!

They are the ultimate warriors really (Custodes just aren't as cool, they sit in the Palace all day staring at the Emperor's Chamber hoping no-one will attack 'em)
They are the Emperor's chapter,
They kick ass to daemons, and anyone really!!!
They look cool,
Their players have class,
They are great to look at in battle and to read about,
Rich background,
Interesting weaponry and cool armour,

Space marine Storm Shields give 3+ invulns. That's not for all armies though. 5th edition smoke launchers give cover, not glancing........ but ours still use glancing. The GW rule is if the equipment/rule is spelled out in your codex, you have to use that one. If it's not spelled out in your codex or says use the main rulebook, you use that.

I love the fact we use all old wargear that acts differently then everyone elses!

I might add that another thing I like about GK's is not a lot of people play them. I know this is not a good thing in the overall scheme of things but I enjoy peoples reactions when they see a rarely played army.
