Re: Ready your Psycannons for the Daemons arrival
Bolter and Chainsword has a small 1000 pts battle rep
http://www.bolterandchainsword.com/index.php?showtopic=133565
Very interesting, looks like Inquisitors with astropaths will be mandatory. Unless you want demons withing 18" of your army at the beginning of the game.

Brothers, after reading that B&C battle report, we are in deep.
Armies will need to change, weapons updated, and training increased.
But remember, we fight not only for Humanity's sake, but for the Emperor.
I am getting a copy of the Deamons Codex next week, and will let you know some of the worse points of the army.
Look for it in my regular post.
We stand shoulder to shoulder against this threat. And though out-numbered we may be, we are the Grey Knights. And we shall never surrender.

Re: Ready your Psycannons for the Daemons arrival
Even though they're fearless, do they still have deamonic instability? If they don't it's kinda pointless having the -1 LD for fighting GK.
So are Force Weapons changed to Instant Death now? If so, that really sucks.
Inquisitors will be needed to take care of those deep strikers. I wonder who a battle would go if I was using my future Legion of the Damned - everything would be deep Striking everywhere!
At least I can deep strike Dreadnaughts...

Re: Ready your Psycannons for the Daemons arrival
Since these new Daemons are not considered summoned they won't have to take instability tests.
Tactics: All good in theory, all gone to hell in practice.
Re: Ready your Psycannons for the Daemons arrival
And The instand Death ruling will be in 5th edition on july. At least they still charge as in dificult terrain. However our "Endless" rule for demons will bite.
Re: Ready your Psycannons for the Daemons arrival
Omg..... that sucks for DH, and if GW doesn't make a new codex soon we are screwed for all eternity.

Let them come. We shall fight our losing battle for all eternity, and go to our certain deaths willingly. We have fought and died for Him in the past, and we shall continue to do so. For we are the Grey Knights, most holy and loyal of all his servants. We will never falter, nor give one step to the enemy. Unless we have a kick-ass plan.

Re: Ready your Psycannons for the Daemons arrival
The deamon will come in hordes unending, we will be covered by blood and death!
But we will stand!
The deamon will attack us with the most monstrous of beeings!
But we will stand!
Gw might exclude us and our sisters to fight a hopeless battle, exclude us from their galaxy and finish us off in an endless tide of deamonic bodies!
But we will stand! Until the end of mankind!
For We are the hammer crushing the emperors foes!
We are the instrument of his will, the tip of his spear, the edge of his sword!
We are the end, of all our enemies and we shall fight until our last breath or until the galaxy is purged!
Glory to the emperor! He will protect us always!

For everything else there is deep investigation, we all should have a copy of this new dex so that nothing can catch us unprepared.
This is no longer Theory
This is for the Chapter HONOUR!!!

Re: Ready your Psycannons for the Daemons arrival
Today, I got to look at the new Chaos Daemons Codex. The place where I play had a copy (don't ask me how; I honestly don't know) so I skimmed through it.
Yes, everything is fearless and deepstrikes, and yes, ALL their saves are Invulnerable -- usually 5+ or 4+. It hurts. There was a lot of Fleet, and lots of Furious Charge as well. To top it all off, a good portion of their heavy melee units have Rending. Melee against these guys is going to hurt. In addition, the models were relatively cheap, considering all the special rules that apply to the whole army.
The models, I must admit, are pretty snazzy looking. My favorite was their walker unit, which looked like a centaur-type thing with a greater daemon of Khorne body and Defiler legs. It had two weapons, which fired random (D6 on a table) blast types.
All in all, my first impression was "Ouch". Psycannon bolts will be great, and if GW doesn't make an errata to change Sanctuary (because even if it's on my side, an invincible army is still stupid and unsportsmanlike), then I'll refuse to use it on general principle. It looks like they're just too fast for us to backpedal and shoot them to death, and Grand Masters are useless due to the daemons immunity to Instant Death, so we might find ourselves looking at a lot of Brother Captain centric melee armies. On the bright side (the slim one that there is), I think this army will give new life to the Dreadnought and Purgation Squads in Grey Knight armies.
Just my two bits; take it for what you will.

I'm going to get a copy when it comes out.

Re: Ready your Psycannons for the Daemons arrival
Many people feels an Inq Heavy Army with lots of sanctuaries could do the trick, hiding our dakka people behind an unpassable wall.
Also seems that Astropaths will be mandatory.
Usin An army (theoretically) with 1 Inq Lord and 3 Elites we can have a 24" wall that can only fear flyers or jetbikes. and will dakka to death the rest of the army.

Re: Ready your Psycannons for the Daemons arrival
Since I plan to keep my army pure GK I won't be stocking up on Inquisitors. I'll just have to take any Daemons coming my way square on the kisser. I have a couple of questions/observations though:
Once in a while I do a google search to catch any updates on the Codex: Daemons. I've noticed though there doesn't seem to be much hype amongst players about it. Some are looking forward to it but most seem indifferent at best. Am I wrong in thinking this army might not be very popular? What's the attitude that you guys are getting in your particular gaming circle towards the codex?
A lot of players are concerned about how difficult it might now be for DH's to combat Daemons. I'm wondering how much tougher it will be for other non-DH armies. They don't have Daemon-free zones and as many (I think) IS-negating weapons/upgrades. Since they don't have to make difficult terrain rolls agains them on the charge wouldn't Daemons be Fleeting/Rending faster and just as effectively against other armies?
