1000pts Daemonhunter Army
Hey guys,
I did this list, with SM and Eldar opponents in mind, which I will be using in the next two or three weeks. Just wondering what your thoughts are on it. It's 1000pts on the dot and I'm listing it from memory... but I think I've listed everything correctly.
HQ
Inquisitor Lord and retinue
Artificer armour
Psycannon
ccw
2 warriors with Plasma guns
2 sages
1 Familiar
TROOPS
ST squad Alpha
10 ST
Vet sergeant upgrade with Storm bolter
Flamer
Plasma gun
Chimera
Multi las
H. bolter
Pintle mounted Storm Bolter
ST squad Beta
10 ST
Vet sergeant upgrade with bolter
Melta gun
Grenade launcher
Chimera
Multi las
H. bolter
Pintle mounted Storm Bolter
ELITES
Eversor Assassin
4 Death Cult Assassins
HEAVY
1 Dreadnought with TLLC and ML
I did use the same core but on a 750pts battle against SM... And i wiped them out in three turns, including the termies he had.
The 750pts army had 4 IST, the dreadnought and two DC Assassins missing from the list.

Bah!It's dishonour to all other SM players if one of theyr number get's wiped so easily.
But taht list looks very effective against heavy armoured foes, so it's no suprise that the Space Marines were wiped in the 3rd round.

Oooo...I like it, especially the 4 death cult assassins. The really cool thing about them is even if I have 3 of them charging a unit, the unit can only fire at one of them at a time since they are "independent" per se. (he he he)
One thing though, I think you can't get a dread if you don't have a GK hero in your list...could be mistaken though but I think I remember reading that in the sidebar...

Rivan is correct on the Dreadnought. If you drop the Vet w/storm bolter, the ccw on your Inq. and run one less DCA you'll have the points for a B-C. Just a thought.

I think you also need termi armour for your inquisitor to use a psycannon AND ccw, apart from that looks like a cool list

@Zealadin: I could be wrong but I always thought any character can have up to two weapons, one of which can be a two-handed weapon. Actually, if you give the inquisitor terminator armor, you can't give him a ccw.

Hmm actually with the new rules thats right, I remember being able to do it with eldar exarchs, but yea the termi armour allows them to move and shoot, not gain the extra attack.

Re: 1000pts Daemonhunter Army
I like your build ferrochrome. Just a couple suggestions. I'd drop the vet upgrades on the IST sgts and find points to take a BC with Psycannon. Then I'd attach him to the Inq Lord and make them more shooty. You might also consider putting heavy flamers on one of your chimeras which makes it good for denying cover saves and negates the BS 3 it has.
Be sure to let us know what kind of succes you have with the DCA's and good luck.

While I loved DCA's when I used to field them, I can say a lot rests on how they are deployed coz it's real easy to shoot them down. My best success w/ them was when 2 of them were able to charge 5 SM terminators. That's 8 str4 PW attacks...and the termies went bye bye
...talk about more than making up for their points.

Damned! I totally forgot that "Need a BC or GM in order to get Dread and LR" rule.
All very good points gents. Thank you.
I'll do the maths tonight and have a good think about how to use the updated army list and I'll post it in the morning.

That's awesome...they seem really good for games like that but might be a little harder to use against Eldar due to their high initiative values

Only too true. Even a Callidus is not very effective vs. eldar because almost every model is as fast as her if not faster!

Yes, I've learnt to keep away from those blasted Eldar and to take those friggin lance weapons out of action if I field a LR...

At least, in addition to terrain, a disembarked squad that covers at least half of your LR and are in b/w the bright lance and your tank gives your LR a 4+ cover save!
Just imagine a squad of termies in front of a LR and one of the termie's invulnerable fields stops a bright lance from getting through...that's cool from a cinematic point of view!

Re: 1000pts Daemonhunter Army
Haha very true that!
Can just imagine it, the bright lance fires on the tank through the Termies, there is a giant flash of light and a cascade of sparks and super heated energy, followed by a cloud of plasma smoke, then through the smoke you see a red glow, which then disolves into a terminator standing there, his armour super heated, but unharmed due to its thickness
Then he just points at the bright lance, and the eldar know they are screwed.
